Freshman at Southwest Texas State, Now known as Texas State. When grunge emerged I defected to what would become called Americana. Back then we called it Alt Country or Texas Music.

I’ve kept a few Guitarist (UK) magazines from ‘88 - 1990. I was showing them to my 17 year old. He couldn’t believe the prices of the guitars (Les Paul Standards for under £600)

I’m lots older than you kid🤣…. That picture of EVH (RIP) reminded me of an article in Guitar Player ‘77 maybe?… they were talking about an up and coming guitarist, a “New California Sound” I think they said.
