There's something to this!! I've walked everywhere for years (no car needed in downtown Seattle). Even on icy and snowy days I just put on my Yaktrax. I managed to stay trim. But the last few months (since summer) I've had to live at my parents and drive everywhere! I immediately gained 10 lbs. and feel like crap! Even if I exercise at home. I need to get back to walking in the rain and cold wind...even if I hate the neighborhood.

Sounds very similar to what triggers the conversion of white fat to brown fat -- that occurs as a result of both cold exposure as well as exercise, thereby increasing both fat-burn and metabolism. I wonder if this is at all related.

How about just setting the thermostat between 55-60 degrees overnight so you wake up to a cooler house?

In listening to Dr Rhonda Patrick on sauna it was discussed that there was just not much data on cold soaks for health benefits. Guess that is changing.

And what about sauna? It seems a lot of the effects that come from cold exposure and execercise can also come from heat exposure. I'd be interested to know if sauna can also have this lipokine effect

Right now my outdoor workout in Monterey is 55 to 60°, for 60 and 90 minutes, wearing shorts and a t-shirt. I do body weight exercises resistance bands and sprints, and shoot BB. Thanks for another great video Thomas

Thomas, theres also a new compound being found by morticians when they flush the bodies in the embalming process. It's this white rubbery "clot." Hell 55-60 degrees must be 90% of our yearly weather here. So I am good to go. Edit I just looked it up our mean temp is 9.3 °C | 48.8 F. Now off for my 2nd walk today.
