This is the first “no-spread” cookie recipe I’ve tried that actually didn’t spread! I was almost ready to give up on making cute cut out cookies to decorate but you saved me! Also, thank you for giving all your dry ingredient measurements in weight. I will never understand why anyone would still fluff, spoon & level flour (and get it ALL OVER the kitchen) when you can get a decent little digital scale for like $10.

Hi I am Ariana I'm 12 years old and have made these cookies but with a little change they are my favourite, my 3-year-old brother normally does not like cookies but with these ones he came begging for them, they got finished in 2 days. I made it in my kitchen-Aid stand mixer and it looked just like ursTnx for this recipe. I love baking and cooking.
Anyway, tnx for the recipe!

My grandmother used to say "You can not call yourself a baker until you can bake a sugar cookie that keeps it shape, tastes like it took you hours to make and gets you a proposal." I failed many times...on the cookies and proposals. 😂🤣😂

Thank you for not giving us bad advice like so many fake chefs do these days. I find your videos highly informative, concise, and easy to follow. You're an excellent teacher.

I love how you always give gram measurements ❤️

It's so confusing when I watch other recipe videos and they do cups 😩 even though cups look so much more easier then grams.

I just made around 200 vegan cookies with this recipe, so nice and easy. Replaced the egg with aquafaba and it came out perfect!!!!

Thanks, John. My nieces and I made this as a base for them to experiment with royal icing cookie decorating. It was so much fun. Sending love from South Africa 🇿🇦

Used this recipe for some Halloween cookies and they came out perfect! Soooo good. I also added some almond extract. Instead of just 1 teaspoon of vanilla I did 1/2 tspn of vanilla and 1/2 tspn of almond. Will be using this recipe for Christmas!

For any confusion, his recent Christmas sugar cookie video from 4 months ago doesn’t include cornstarch. Instead it uses baking soda. I highly recommend this recipe. It gave a nice shape and rise on my cookies! I’ve followed this recipe many times. Hope this helps!

I literally just made these for Hanukkah, and they came out AMAZING!
Everyone loved them!!!
Crispy on the edges, soft and slightly chewy in the middle.
Perfect golden color.
I used a magen of David cookie cutter and a Ginger bread man for fun. They most definitely kept their shape and check out his royal icing video.
We had a cookie decorating party.
Depending on the size of your cookie cutter, I had big and small so we easily made a little more than two dozen w/one batch.
I used 1/3 Cup of corn starch like he had adjusted and mentioned in the video and they did in all honesty come out fantastic.
I put it flat in the fridge for 30 minutes, because I was working on the second batch of dough.
The fist batch i used Pure Vanilla extract. On the second batch I added a pinch of caramel extract.
What's great is that you can change the flavor so easily.
Bravo to this recipe 👏🏆
