iPad Air review. The one part of the iPad Air that isn't any thinner or lighter is its price, which starts at the usual $499 for a 16GB WiFi-only model. From there, the MSRP goes as high as $929 for the most expensive configuration (that's the WiFi + Cellular model with 128 gigs of storage).

I almost always like the new designs Apple come up with, but he's lying about the lag and the performance in every day usage... there IS in fact quite noticeable lag / frame drops at the moment and while games should be expected to run at least as smooth as the previous iPad there's no significant performance gain YET as many games and apps do not actually make use of the 64bit capabilities at all and there's no larger memory included.

In fact, iOS7 as a whole doesn't really require this processor to run smoothly and even worse Apple has included a few animations that really take away speed, but that's a different problem. To get back on top, Apple will need to implement some kind of widget equivalent and implement true multi-tasking, preferably the multi-window kind.

Look just how smoothly and beautifully it behaves, Android seriously pales in comparison to iOS in this category. Period. In a month, I'm getting my own Air. It's been a two year since I sold my iPad 2, and it's time to experience the perfection again.

Bought mine yesterday (wifi version) and I am positively surprised. The weight reduction it is noticeable. And the rounded edges, like iPad Mini, help even more. It is really comfortable to hold.

That said, still not sure if the Mini is a better choice or not, at least, when talking about portability. I own the original Mini and for reading indoors it is easier to hold, even with one hand.I would say that for people who write or create documents, the iPad Air is the way to go.

Good review, looks to be a solid device. I appreciate the shout-out to the fact that this is not the only great tablet device out there, and ultimately boils down to what works best for the buyer.

I agree with you, I'm replying to a guy that is saying that the iPad is the same thing over and over which is not. I have an iPad 1 and a 4, the difference is HUGE!

"show up in the next version" ahhh the typical apple move to not put certain features in so that they can say "This is the best iPad ever created!"

I'm guessing that the iPad Air isn't much an upgrade from it's previous predecessor, but if you have the original iPad or the iPad 2 this would be a major boost in performance and other areas, making it a worthwhile upgrade.

I'm typing this from the iPad air, this is the best pad I have ever used, all the other manufacturers are in trouble!

I don't miss browser related Flash support on the iPad, but what about a button to turn Flash support on or off to give the customers the choice?

I need a tablet for on-the-go work (writing documents, internet surfing) and I'm on a very tight budget. I love the iOS from the iPod Touch that I own, but I'll need a tablet that will integrate with my Windows 7 notebook. Any propositions/ideas?

I loved my iPad 3 to the point that it replaced my laptop... then it got laggy with new updates along the way and I still cannot get used to the new theme on iOS7. I bought a MacBook Air and I use it way more often that my iPad collects dust. This air is really tempting but I would rather save my money and skip it this year. Sometimes I use my Galaxy Note 2 way more than my MacBook Air for media consumption.

Engadget how did you get a gold iPad Air? I thought they had only White and Space Grey.

Strangely, I was recently an Android fan, but Apple's latest offerings have made me change my mind. The iPhone 5S is a great offering and I do like the iPad air.
