My unit wouldn't spray out of the box as I thought. So bummed! I was trying to use exterior latex paint. My initial thought was that the paint was just too thick and I needed to water it down. Now after watching you and your technique for setting up, priming without the tip, holding the trigger, etc. I'm hopeful that my X5 will now work! It all makes perfect sense watching an experienced pro walking through this process! I wish I had seen this before and I've saved this video (and your clean up video) for future reference. Thanks much!

Thanks for the Informative video. Not a bunch of filler talk and garbage. Just a simple, easy to follow instructional video. This is how everyone should do this type of video.Great job!! I can’t wait to start using my X5 today.

Thanks for the video. I noticed at the 2:00 minute in the video you had some trouble getting it to prime. And you said sometimes you have to toggle the switch to get it to suck through. There is a button just below the on/off switch that will push 2 times just after your switch from spray to prime. This loosens the inlet valve ball and allows the paint to flow to the other hose with ease. So press that button 2 times after flipping the switch to primer and before you turn on the power. Thanks for the video.

GOSH!!! I thought I was mentally challenged when I saw MY paint sprayer after using it 1-2 times. thank you for making me feel normal. Great technique for using the switch! Helps me NOT have to wipe my Face, Garage, clothes down after painting myself!!!

I don’t paint often so I never remember the steps! I moved this past October and have used my sprayer several times since then and I always have this video on as I’m getting my sprayer ready! Thanks man!

Good video on using this sprayer. And practical " how to do it" by an obviously experienced user. Thanks for posting.

Great job explaining things simply and to the point. I am new to airless paint sprayers and I was diligent about reading the instructions Graco gives you. Unfortunately, they make it a 70 step process and is incredibly confusing. Thank you again DIY Allied!

one thing to mention iwhen in the spray position with tip off and spraying in waste bucket or paint bucket is to make sure it’s on lowest psi setting like “start”, or you’ll be in for a very messy

I noticed you did not prime the sprayer with water. Do you find that step unnecessary?

Which paints to use on the magnum x5 that is the question.
i haven't bought the unit as yet because I want to get one that will spray water base paints out of the can. After looking at the paints, some say you have to use a 517 tip and very few tell you that you can use the 515 tip (that comes with the magnum x5).
I am also wondering at what temperatures you can spray paint under. I get extreme temperatures here where I live as well as winds.
I contacted Graco and they said you can run the spray painter up to 115F. That wasn't what I wanted to know. Out here when it gets hot, it get so hot the paint sticks to the brush (if your using one) before you can get it on what you are painting. I need to know at what temperature with this spray gun work the best, the coldest to the hottest. Also about wind, I know you can't paint in 20mph winds but what is the highest acceptable wind you can paint in. Should I get the more expensive spay painter that used up to 0.017 tips or will the 0.015 tips work just fine. Lot of unanswered question needed to be answered before buying a spray painter.
HELP !!! :o)

Hello Allied, I’m about to spray my first room this weekend and I had a question about priming the unit. All of the videos show people priming the unit with water first. I noticed you put the suction hose directly in the paint without priming with water. Did you use water the first time you used the unit or have you always primed straight from the paint bucket? I’m trying not to waste a lot of paint and wanted to see if that was an option on the first use. Thanks!

How long can I wait between coats before I have to re-prime? For example, can I spray a door, and then wait until I get another door sanded and then go right back to spraying? Or will I need to prime again? Thank you.

enjoyed ur I have a x7, was wondering how often does the unit last before u have to rebuild it ? I had a friend use it to paint an entire house in and out, but it started making a weird noise toward the end of the job. just bought another house to flip, so I`ll be trying to use it again, any info would be appreciated, thanks, Paul
