Is It Time To DROP Harry Kane?

Harry Kane is not playing well and Gareth Southgate has a huge decision to make ahead of England Vs The Netherlands at Euro 2024 in Germany. Can we actually drop our captain? My initial thought was 'no' but then you look at the form of Ivan Toney and you wonder if Saka, Foden and Bellingham would be better served having an on form centre forward playing with them?

Makes no runs EVER, yet to see him run once, scored a lucky rebound and a header from a position that Pickford could've scored. Kane is as much of a detriment to England as Ronaldo is to Portugal. It's not sad it's pissing me off honestly

11:13 VVD would be most worried about playing against Watkins.
He is one of the few strikers who has had his number over these past few seasons.

I agree with you. Give Tony 60 minutes and then if not working bring on Kane.

If Kane wanted the best for England, he’d tell Southgate to drop him. It’s ego before country.

It's been said, but Kane benched himself because Southgate doesn't have the balls to do it. Kane knows he is spent at the moment, he just can't publically admit

German commentators mentioned every single game, that Kane seems to still suffer from a back injury he got in the tail end of the season, but all I've seen from English/British pundits is "he looks exhausted, he doesn't look fit". Yeah no shit, poor guy might even be on pain killers, just look at how he moves and it's obvious he's not at 100%

I still remember that moment. Saka skinned his man, crossed into the near post six yard box... And Kane was 12 yards away outside the box jogging.

Either
- Didn't believe Saka would beat the man - great example from the Captain
- Didn't think it was his job to get on the end of the ball - rather, Daja should beat his man and somehow pick him out. Arrogant.
- Isn't willing to try hard enough to get there
- Isn't able to get there.

No excuse is acceptable

The amount of times Kane was in the cb position was just ridiculous!

It doesn’t matter you’re getting eliminated since you’re finally facing a good team

It was another bang average performance and only saved by a speculative effort from Saka - our first shot on goal. We have players with attacking flair...use them! Get the ball out wide, take on defenders, get crosses in. It's not rocket science.

7:25 Crazy that Ronaldo has a decade on Kane…and Kane considered ‘oldish’

Starting Toney and bringing Kane on if needed after 60 mins does feel like the right strategy but, to be honest, I'd be more excited bringing Watkins on for Toney (or the other way around) in those last 30 than a clearly unfit Kane. It's all moot though;. it would take Kane himself to declare himself unfit before Southgate drops him.

As a dutchman myself I think someone like Watkins or Toney would cause us more trouble even against Turkey VVD was struggling with that quick turkish striker getting in behind but i would understand Kane starting again seeing that we as the dutch are conceding a lot from setpieces

As a liverpool fan I have seen kane go up against vvd many times and vvd always makes defending against him look so easy. Watkins will cause him problems

Every Striker scores goals at Bayern, how can they not? Kane is nowhere near the best player at the Euro's, he probably doesn't even make top 10 tbh. For what reason is he the best player in the Euros, he scored a few goals in the Bundesliga? Oh please do me a favour.

England has a history of keeping on strikers well past their best. Usually it takes a change of manager to cut the player from the team.

If Kane does get dropped then Bellingham should be captain. I have no doubt can inspire the team to Euro victory.

You explored options of Toney or Kane but Watkins would provide the perfect link up for those behind him, willing to run in behind, could even occasionally provide width off the left to stretch the play, Netherlands are more likely to leave space in behind as well. Then bring on Toney or Kane (or both) towards the end if required to provide target men and physicality
