I had a detachment in my early 40’s. If you see flashes get to the eye doc ASAP as this is a very serious issue. I went right away, had buckle surgery, and fortunately did not lose my vision. That was 19 years ago.

When I had peripheral flashes that started suddenly, my local eye doctor treated it like an emergency and fit me into one of the first appointments of the day. He gave me one of the most comprehensive exams I've ever had to rule out retinal detachment. Fortunately, it did seem to be just normal aging.

Thanks a lot, Docs. I can't believe we're getting so much good information for free every week, and that too from sources legally qualified to talk about health 😄

A low CARB & low sugar diet has definitely helped reduce my floaters. Hope this helps someone.

I’ve had floaters for so long. I hardly ever see them anymore unless I’m thinking about it.

Thanks Docs, I have lots of weird eye floaters and blurry spots. I always get told its normal even by eye doctors. I feel lucky to have lived long enough to have age related problems.

Thanks guys, great video with good info.
I am 64 and recently experienced flashing arc lights in my left eye as well as increased floaters.
After a check up, all is good, just getting older.

The past few days, while laying down for break at work, I've been very annoyed staring at all the floaters. This video being posted so soon after is a wild coincidence. Love the content, Docs

I’ve had floaters for some time. When I get bored I sometimes play with them by moving my eyes left & right. Kind of like playing pong.

I have a posterior vitreous detachment that was diagnosed a few years ago. I see my eye doctor every 6 months to have it checked. They also check for glaucoma. Thanks for the wonderful and informative videos.

I had never heard of vitreous detachment so when I got the flashing i thought it was a migraine aura that was persistent. My neurologist office sent me to urgent care and they didn’t recognize it but when I called to schedule ophthalmology the scheduler knew what was happening. The ophthalmologist told me the other eye would do the same thing within the next year and unfortunately they were right. I wish I’d known what it was prior to having it happen so I appreciate the video!

Thank you 🙏🏼 Doctors……. I appreciate your time & information. I had the terrifying experience of a haemorrhagic episode at the back of my eye 2 months ago. I took myself off to the Manchester Eye Hospital in the UK. They were fantastic with me there and I saw a specialist & his team who gave my eyes a thorough examination. Fortunately my retina hadn’t detached but I’ve been left with loads of floaters that affect the sight in my right eye.
I cannot stress enough that you MUST see an ophthalmologist immediately if you experience flashing, floaters or bleeding within the eye. Don’t risk losing your sight by delaying a visit to a doctor!

I’ve had floaters, not so much anymore 🧐. I do have flashes and they are annoying! Thanks for this video. I did see a specialist who didn’t seem to know much about them.

I have floaters only, and started getting them in my mid 20s. Just a small amount and very small floaters. No flashes of light. I’m 64 now, and have been getting annual eye exams. I only see floaters or notice them when I look at a solid white or light color wall or look up at the sky. My doctor basically is monitoring and told me to let her know if I start seeing flashes of light. Though many have this due to aging, healthy foods also plays a role in good eye health. The American diet including chemicals and pesticides in the water and air plays a part in our health.

I had flashing like a laser beam in one eye so went to the ER Sunday morning. I was seen by an ophthalmologist the same day, and was told it was posterior vitreous detachment. Whew! I was also told it was “age related”. 🤬 🇨🇦

I’ve had tons of floaters in my eye since I can remember. I am 63 now. I’ve had the occasional flash and have it checked out. If you get a bunch of flashes all at one time that is when it is very serious and you have got to get to the ER immediately!
