Perhaps this is the cessationist in me, but I believe Sam Storms undermined his own position. His point is my exactly my point. The schools of the prophets were not necessarily teaching prophecy but holiness and observance of the law. When King David instructs us through the Psalms, he is not teaching us how to be kings. He was teaching about faith and righteousness. Furthermore, what training did Saul or his soldiers receive when the Spirit fell on them? None, yet they prophesied. Samuel didn't learn to hear from God. He heard God and confused it for his earthly father. Eli just told him to respond, "Here am I." With respect to Elijah's students knowing he would be taken, can we rule out Elijah telling them about his departure on a variety of occasions? After all, he told Elisha.

Certain things can not be taught like faith. Either you have faith in a person, teaching, or operation, or you don't. Prophecy is similar in that God will share future events with you, or he withholds for whatever reason.
