Thank you folks for preserving these magnificent trees. Sequoia's Giant Forest is one of the most magical places I've ever visited. When I visited there the first time 40 years ago, it seemed like a fantasyland.

I was there decades ago while on vacation . I was visiting my sister . She was living in Hanford at the time in the San Joaquin Valley . The trees blew me away & also took my breathe away as they were so huge & so beautiful .

Why can't they let the Natural Sequoia Forests alone? Mother nature does it best! These tree groves live in the higher elevations of the Sierra Nevada Range. Their Orange-hrowolored bark is up to a meter thick, with high water content that naturally protects these trees from forest fires! Their root system is amazingly shallow! On the western slopes, ST thrive in higher elevations (5k to 8k feet) & extremely harsh winter winds & deep snow packs! Sequoia Trees.(ST) do not, however, have major root systems! Decades ago an adult Sequoia Tree fell'l among stunned visitors, with no wind! They are distinct cousins to the coastal Redwood trees, which have a dark brown bark, & grower taller, nut have smaller trunks!

We have a sequoia tree on our farm in northern Ireland. It was planted in the 1800 so I'm told by an American family friend. Is there bark always very soft?

Why doesn't these monsters flip the planet over on its side? Is it because the blue whales are exactly opposite on the other side of the planet?
