Located about 80 miles east of Fresno, California, in the southern Sierra Nevada mountain range, the Sequoia park was established in 1890 as a measure to protect the giant trees from being logged, making it America's second national park (the first park is Yellowstone).
Sequoia National Park is adjacent to Kings Canyon National Park, both have giant sequoia trees. Sequoia park is known for its huge sequoia trees, notably the General Sherman Tree (the biggest tree of the world) dominating the Giant Forest. The second biggest sequoia is General Grant tree in King Canyon.
