Every time Obama says a single phrase, it reminds me that a politician/American CAN speak with intelligence and eloquence.

The fact that a former Democrat mayor and a current Republican congressman could sit in an interview and basically say the same thing about the same topic without resorting to name calling and arguing shows that peaceful discussions can be had between politicians with opposing views.

Remember the more normal times when Obama's biggest controversies were when he ordered dijon mustard and wore a tan suit?

Everytime I hear Obama speak, I'm damn near in tears over the fact how far backwards we've gone when it comes to our political leadership and intelligence. His perfect bipartisan perspective on this subject is such a breath of fresh air and reminds me how much I miss him so dearly as our president.

Uncle Tim is the exception. His story is a 1 in a million. He was lucky to be in the right place at the right time.

I like my presidents well spoken, kind to others and knowledgeable of all the diversity we have in this great country.

I like how Fox News, Brian Kilmeade in particular, is now saying that Barack Obama’s words were unconscionable, when what Obama said had more facts than emotion attached.

A few years ago, the marketing director of a company I worked at was asked to visit one of our customers in a small town in Georgia. He made a comment about how he hated going there, because it always made him fear for his life. Someone asked him if the traffic was that bad, and he replied that it wasn't the traffic that scared him, it was being a black man driving a nice rental car through the backwoods of Georgia that scared him. So yeah, there's still a fair bit of work that needs to be done here in America. :(

Success is the exception. In any color! However! It is even more the exception for PoC.

These ae serious issues, but I'd like to point out that Native Americans actually fare worse in terms of income, savings, overall poverty, access to education, access to food, housing, health, etc. For just about any metric used the Native Americans come out on the bottom rung.

This is in no way to make light of the very real challenges that Black Americans face, but it always kind of bothers me when newscasters and others forget that there are racial and ethnic groups in the US that are systematically worse off, and by a lot.

There needs to be more awareness of these issues across the board.

3:10 It never once crossed my mind that the term "systemic racism" implied that America was "irredeemably racist". The only thing it implies to me is that these systems must be changed. And for anyone who has wondered how it was that America came to have a for-profit healthcare system, I had a "duh"-smack-the-forehead moment when I learned it was systemic racism, the perfect example of how it hurts everyone.

Tim Scott is something else… his worldview is actually dangerous

Civility in conversation. That is all about. Respect your interlocutor while expressing yourself. You may be right but it's not a reason to insult someone else's character. And this is what was on display in this report.

Obama is such a highly intelligent individual. That's in part because he reads a lot. Reading is powerful.

Every time I see or hear Obama I think there is a leader in the best possible sense.

After all that being said, I'm very proud of America for making Obama president, twice. We should be proud of ourselves man.

I'm a 74 year old, southern, white woman and, throughout my life, I have seen racism firsthand. We have made some progress, but there is still a long way to go.
