Love how the 2 Marines holding the umbrella in such a serious and formal pose. They do make the President and the event look good,

Here's different ways this could have happened:

1. Obama holds his own umbrella and tells Turkish PM to hold his own.

Result: "Wow, what a cruel president making a foreign government official hold their own umbrella! No respect."

2. Obama holds two umbrellas.

Result: "Wow, what a weak president! He's practically kissing the feet of another nation right now! This is not how a president should act!"

3. Holds his own, but makes marine hold for PM

Result: "Wow, what a corrupt dictator! Forcing a marine to protect a government official that's not from the U.S.A!"

Unlike so many here, two people I'm sure had nothing to bitch about were the two Marines holding umbrella's.
As a former infantryman in the Corps, , it was my responsibility to follow a chain of command, including the man at the top, the president. If anything, , these two Marines were proud to serve their president. Not every responsibility requires firing a gun but every task or mission is completed, , as ordered without bitching. If you are curious about why Marines don't mess in politics, , ask one.

No matter how you look at it. Marines are incredibly adaptable and awesome. They can rescue and feed a starving baby in a war-torn country, punch the fk'n lights out of a terrorist, or just hold an umbrella better than anyone. I have been around the Marine Corps all of my life. So, yes it is true. "There is no worse enemy, no better friend than a U.S. Marine". God bless them all.
Especially my son aboard a ship in the South China Sea as we speak.

From what ive heard of Marines, this is a complete honor, and also a simple task. Im not in the military, nor in great shape, and i could probably hold an umbrella up for an extended period of time. It would HURT like hell, but Marines are trained to IGNORE hurt like hell, plus in much better shape than I. I applaud these Marines for performing their duty.
