When it comes to who they let into their lives, Sigma males are very picky. They take a long time to let someone in or really trust them, and they want people who will stick with them and help them.

They are trying to make sense of it and learn something from it. They want to find out what went wrong so that it doesn't happen again.

In the end, they figure out what's going on and come to terms with it. The more they care about it, the longer it takes. So Sigma men will tell others not to let anyone in and to put a bubble around themselves and their hearts to protect them. They know that people don't always treat you the way you deserve, so they keep that from happening to them.
