I just had ear candling done at a barber in Marmaris, Turkey
(Aug 2023)
He put both candles in my ears at the same time, then lit them with a kitchen blow torch.
The heat was immense.
As the candles burned down towards my ears, the heat inside my ears was almost unbearable, I was in agony.
2 days after the procedure, my inner ears are still very sore and my hearing is now impaired, which I'm hoping is temporary and they heal naturally.
After the procedure, the barber showed me what looked like a tiny bit of earwax ftom my left ear, nothing from my right.
Please do not try this procedure.
I was stupid enough to give it a go whilst on holiday but in my opinion, it is very dangerous and could result in loss of hearing...and IT DOES NOT WORK!
AVOID THIS PROCEDURE!

If you are considering this for ear wax removal, don't. It doesn't remove much wax at all from personal experience. I went to the doctor to get it removed and they sprayed water at certain spots in my ear and everything was removed. Don't use Q-tips btw, that was the reason I got a build up

I literally just did this and had the same argument with my mother, i feel like i can definitely hear better but the ‘ear wax’ inside the candle was pretty hard, not like ear wax goo you’d usually expect

No. The ear wax candle has filters at the tip and melting or dripping it into someone's ears is somehow impossible to happen.

My mother used this type of candle on me, and it burned almost everything inside my ear, the treatment was very, very painful. It can damage you, shame I didn't know about it before this situation

They try to tell you don't use wax candles so you have to go to doctors and spend lot of money instead of couple of euros/dollars. Nice idea! :) If these candles are dangerous, also potentially dangerous, they are not inside farmacy. So, I used it, and these worked for me.

I can only assume it happened because they didn’t cut the candle right while it was lit

I just did this last night, and I didn't feel any burning sensation. You don't need to burn it all the way.

I'm glad that was cleared up. I done saw them at Walmart and I love fire and candles but I'd dance round a campfire before I try earwax candling

Even if ear candles worked there would still be no reason to do it when flushing your ears with saline water can get the job done in under a minute.

I never understand people who could get easily fooled by those ear candles. Its obvious the wax comes from the candle.
