New Balance SC Pacer v2 First Run: A big upgrade on the Pacer v1?

The New Balance FuelCell SuperComp Pacer v2 has too many words in its name, but it’s also a very exciting (and good-looking) new carbon racing shoe with a lower stack than the New Balance SC Elite v4 and most top super-shoes. Nick took it out for a first run to see how it’s been updated compared to the SC Pacer v1.

Hi Nick, thank you for an informative initial review. I look forward to your final review and conclusion.

I'm a huge fan of the v1, using it for training and races, except Marathons. Previous to the V1, I ran in NB's RC 1400s for everything, including marathons. To me, the V1 was a racing flat enhancement with contemporary technologies. I'm not sure what to think about the V2. I'm not enamored to the increase in stack. I look forward to learning what you ultimately conclude.

I think it’s a bit of a fail if a reduced stack hight shoe still weighs more then other brands full stack shoes

I can’t see the benefit of less cushion, less bounce plus the same or more weight

Shame that it doesn't weigh less but I'm hoping it will be a more versatile version of the Takumi Sen 9.
