This looks like a rad bit of kit. I always find it really hard to spend the money on pricey sharpening stuff - it just doesn't excite me like the purchase of a new knife does. So this looks like a good price to tempt me in.

you still recommend this sharpener? I mainly use s30v or better.

I know you say you are moving the handle inwards to follow the bevel to the tip but are you also increasing the angle slightly to hit the edge more by tilting the knife inwards slightly? When i paint my bevel with a marker I find that if i tilt the angle I hit the edge better should i do this or is it better to keep the knive vertical and wait until the shoulder is ground away enough to hit the very edge vertically? Just got s30v knife and read that the sharpmaker cant cut the vanadium carbides and thus the edge u get is no better than an edge that can be achieved on a steel with no vanadium? Just looking for advice to get the best out of my new knife?

Nothing gets my edges super sharp as a ceramic stone at the end . I haven’t tried anything else but after ceramic and a strop they glide through materials .

Thank you very much for this video! Bought myself a sharpmaker and now I’m absolutely happy with it — keep all my knives hair shaving sharp almost zero effort

I use my Edge Pro Apex only for reprofiling at 15° per side and use my Sharpmaker for touch up on the 20° side and then my strop (or only my strop for touch up if it's not to dull).

Do you apply the 40 degree micro bevel or just the 30 degree all the way? I wasnt sure which from the video.

Just getting into collecting and will be purchasing this sharpening system along with a set of the ultra fine rods and a strop.
