Something I got told a long while ago.. replace the word ‘algorithm’ with ‘Audience’. Make stuff for your ‘Audience’ and the algorithm will take care of itself. On track for 30k now with sponships and close to leaving the day job!

Seriously Virginia- the EXACT SAME THING happened to me. I was going crazy trying to keep up with all the cross promotion. One month ago I gave up posting about my videos on IG and I gained more views from so many lovely people. God is Good. He wants us to relax (and in my case 😂) he told me to just cool it with all the IG craziness. It wasn’t good for my mental health that’s for sure!

Virginia, I cannot thank you enough. I binged watched your latest video series. I used your formula and put up a video on November 10th that went viral, at least for me it was viral. I was at about 360 or 380 subs at that time. Then I created 2 shorts and another video that was ok. Great video and a very clear explanation of how YT serves up your video to some subscribers and then out to other people. Another very key point is the retention graph. Everything you said was true and if you can figure out how to keep this line from not dropping then YT will reward you.

The only time I share mine on FB is in groups if it is relevant to a question or if it will help other fellow travelers. I shared what happened to me after shaving a few months ago and how serious it became with me being in the hospital and sharing that not only helped spread awareness about MRSA turning septic but many on FB stayed and are now part of my community.

I often wonder why other videos get 100x more views than mine and in many cases the videos are really not great and in many cases rarely match the title or thumbnail ... the algorithm hasn't liked my videos in years and years, luckily I still enjoy creating them and will do so for many years (I hope) into the future. Killed views for three years, I think I have killed my views for 10 years ! I think I have spent most of my time assuming search as that is generally how I use YT, as a search engine - clearly doesn't work well.

You are definitely right about the subscribers. I have about 10000 subscribers and probably most of them have no interest in my videos so if YT shows the videos to them, basically they never watch it and so it dies. I probably have 1000 'good' subscribers that watch the videos but beyond that, I wish I could just delete all the subscribers from 10 years ago as they are all Photoshop users, they don't watch videos about Affinity Photo. They are same niche but different applications so no interest. I could just start all again but have tried that and the channel died a death. So basically can't see my videos ever doing much with the state of the current algorithm if all it does is feed it to the old subscribers. Most of my video views have come from google search and rarely from YT
