Many off the subscribers tools me about a very cool set of @KobaltTools locking pliers. They have a very cool feature that even the popular Vise Grip Brad does not have

#kobalt #lowes #pliers

Tired of your hand getting caught in the kickback from your usual locking pliers? You know…that big snap when you release the pressure? Our newly designed and patented locking pliers eliminate that risk, while still providing enormous clamping power. A low-impact release ensures the safety of your hand with a simple push and squeeze operation that allows the jaws to release slowly and smoothly.
Patented low-impact release mechanism keeps your fingers from getting snapped by the handle upon release from the locked position

Our uniquely designed adjustment knob allows you to apply more tension to the fastener and reduces the risk of rounding

The simple operation method of 1. PUSH and 2. SQUEEZE allows you to activate or release with just one hand

This one-handed functionality allows you to position the wrench and release readily - keeping you in control of the tool and the work piece

This set includes a 10-inch curved jaw and a 6-1/2 inch long nose to help you with a variety of projects

The knob can be turned by a socket, a wrench, a screwdriver shaft or by hand

Molded handles provide grip and comfort during use

Designed and tested to exceed ASME specifications

Hassle-free lifetime guarantee

I have an old pair of locking pliers from my dad who worked in the space industry. The only markings visible on them is "made in Japan". They have a very-black finish and almost looks like it was made by a precision machinist. If they were not so scratched-up by my dad, I would have kept them in a display case.

All the new stuff feels springy, imprecise and the jaws have lots of play. These have thick precision-fit hinge-pins (rather than the rivets used on newer stuff). The narrow jaws fit into places like nothing else. In a pinch I've even taken off a neighbor's wheel locks without any cursing or damage to the wheels.

If some-one made a pair like that today, even for $200 I'd pick them up. That may sound like a lot but when your project it stalled because something is stuck or jammed, it's totally worth it.

That lever on the vise grips can be squeezed *toward* the bolted handle to make it easier to pop them apart. Is that a feature you didn't know?

I just got the OEM TOOLS set of 7 locking pliers. They don’t have the nifty button, but they do have the hex head for a socket. Nice price too.

I will be buying these to compare to the new Channelock locking pliers and the Knipex. Last Best Tool showed the soft release feature of the Knipex, which also can hold onto the work with a light grip on the handle. I’m hoping the Kobalt and Channelock both have “after release” hold function. Thanks for making entertaining and informative videos!

I’ve got auto locking pliers from lockjaw. I’m not sure if you guys have them in America but I’m sure other companies sell a similar product. Love not having to stuff around adjusting the knob until it’s right I can go from job to job and it always fits

I have a set of two mini vice grips. They are only 5in long. They come in handy sometimes. So dont overlook the different sizes and shapes of vice grips.

I recently got RYOBI locking pliers off of Direct tools. Hhhmmm. They have Ryobi hand tools. I do have vice grips that have been in my possession for 42 years. I don't use them alot but when I did. They saved my backside.
