Donetsk residents yearn for peace and stability as Ukraine-Russia tensions rise • FRANCE 24

In the eastern #Donetsk region, little has changed since the #fighting in 2014. Signs still warn about minefields. Concrete block buildings have only crumbled further in the years since they were shelled, and no one has come to tow away the cars hastily abandoned under gunfire. #Ukraine

I wish our family there left when they could have in 2014, I tried to persuade them to leave but home is hard place to leave - even if not peaceful. They describe it similar to interviewees in this report -sort of like open air prison. No escape, no come back etc.

Go home and be happy Russia. Attacking is always too costly for everyone. And really, no one can see the point.

Seems kind of inappropriate, but can anyone tell me if the stadium in the middle was big and what was the team called?

Nepal as a country always relies on meeting and talking to solve problem. We have managed to solve big crisis like civil war this way. I think you guys should do the same.

Ya don't say...of course, they yearn for peace after almost a decade of war. That doesn't take some monumental feat of journalism to point out. 🙄 More like pointless exposition...and I'm sure it's common of every armed conflict ever waged. From the reluctance of Macedonian soldiers to go eastward to the siege of Magdeburg in the Thirty Years War and beyond. If you want peace, it's time to mobilize, pressure those that are waging it, and earn it with the apparently long lost virtue that is compromise. There is as much courage in that as those men charging battlefields...sometimes it just takes political will and leadership. There are far too many ideological firebrands that are quick on the trigger without knowing what they sacrifice for war.

This report is about nothing. Useless, pathetic. What is the reason of this conflict and who started it? What people think? What people want? No Answers mainly because they are scared.
