It's Time To Admit What The Nintendo Switch Really Is

Nintendo released the Switch in 2017 and it's been an interesting generation for the hybrid system. Looking back on the last 5 years and what the system has been able to accomplish I think it's about time we admit what the Switch really is.

In a generation obsessed with graphics. It’s just nice for a system to come out and just be focused on fun.

When you think about it, the Switch is the culmination of all Nintendo's best working concepts put into a singular device: Console era, Gameboy/DS Handheld era, Motion controls, Touchsreen integration, and first party franchises. To make the next best console would be to improve the power, increase efficiency, rework internet related services, and introduce quality of life changes from Switch 1 to Switch 2.

The Switch is a gamepad that became self aware

I've been around since the NES so I have a lot of nostalgia for certain systems, but yes, I gotta say the Switch is the best system Nintendo has ever made.
The versatility seals it for me.

The switch's hybrid nature got me back into gaming. Even the simple ability of being able to power off the screen, go take care of something I need to do, then power the screen and continue is amazing to me.

I think Hybrids will take over the future of the gaming market. Just look at what the Steam deck can do and thats only the 1st generation.

My thoughts on Nintendo's future: I think the Switch brand is here to stay for quite some time and it would be foolish not to. I believe we will continue to see revisions such as the Lite and OLED for years to come much like they did with the DS platform which was also wildly successful in it's different iterations. There are too many positive reasons to stay with the current Switch platform rather than releasing a totally new console. Again, the Switch is here to stay and I am all for it! As the saying goes . . If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I say it all the time, if I could only choose one system to game on; it would 100% be my Nintendo Switch.

There is one thing people often forget when comparing sold unit numbers: the price. The DS was and is much cheaper than the Switch, so naturally it will sell more easy more often per family.

It's really been what was advertised. A really handy console that can be used on the move. Not the most powerful beast by far. But it has a lot of good games on it and the flexibility to warrant that less powerful setup. They needed a real bounce back after the WiiU and they definitely managed that. Gave them a great direction and the cartridges it uses seems very reliable for the future. Doesn't seem like the kind of system that will have a real temptation to dump physical media.

I think it's hard to compare with the previous best consoles from Nintendo like the SNES since we're all becoming older and life changes. But for me the Switch is Nintendos best console ever because it gives me the feeling of the SNES although I don't have that much time like I had when I was a teenager. I'm more flexible with the Switch and I can play whatever I want because the library is huge.

The most impressive thing about Nintendo's first party games on the Switch is that none of the first party games have had a permanent price cut. Almost every other console listed out previously had game sales massively boosted by Greatest Hits versions. Nintendo just realized that they don't need to do a price cut, and they're making a TREMENDOUS amount of money because of it.

My Favorite Nintendo systems:
1. Switch
2. GameCube
3. SNES
4. GameBoy Advanced
5. 3DS
6. N64
7. DS (lite, dsi, etc.)
8. NES
9. GameBoy (still loved the brick and put hundreds of hours in Pokémon blue, red and yellow but love all the items above that much more)

Nintendo has been my favorite gaming platform since I was 4 years old and I’m 36 now.

For sure my favourite Nintendo console.

I hope when a new console comes out it offers backwards compatibility. I would be more than happy to keep Switch for the next decade and just have incremental upgrades like mobile phones.

If Nintendo released a new console without backwards compatibility and expected me to buy slightly upgraded releases like they did with Donkey Kong, Splatoon, Mariokart and Zelda, that'd probably persuade me to buy a Ps5 and hold off on a new Nintendo for a few years.

I was a very late adopter to the Switch (about 10 months ago). I loved retro games, very solid collection that you couldn't get me out of in front of. But after hearing, for years, about BotW, I got one to try, honestly thinking I was going to sell it after playing BotW. I can't put this system down. It is so convenient to play and the games have been absolute bangers. Anyone who tries to claim that this isn't the best Nintendo system is simply tracking in nostalgia. I say that as someone who has put thousands of dollars into nostalgia and still can't put down this machine!

Got a Switch Lite last year and definitely like the exclusives. Haven't tried nearly every game.

This whole time I was thinking the Switch was some gaming device that brings me joy almost daily. Good video

I was just thinking about this, and I'm happy to put the Switch as my favourite console of all time, the across all companies. The hybrid concept is absolutely the things of dreams. Most of Nintendo's first party games have been some of the best ever made. It needs a virtual console but and some tweaks, but my favourite console of all time.

Man I swear these gaming YouTubers just think of new ways to say the same shit over and over again about the switch to clickbait
