In the premiere episode of Being in the Way – an Alan Watts podcast – Mark Watts and Raghu introduce a dharma talk on Taoism, the interdependence of nature, and dropping out of karma.

Discussion with Mark Watts & Raghu Markus (0:00)
Eastern Philosophy: Taoism & Confucianism (10:40)
Mutual Arising: Polarity, Nature, & Interdependence (24:32)
Dropping Out From Karma: The Way Through Now (33:16)

"The world is a system of interrelated components, none of which can survive without each other. Just as in the case of bees and flowers, you will never find bees around in place where there aren't flowers, and you will never find flowers around in a place where there aren't bees. What that tells us secretly, is that although bees and flowers look different from each other, they're inseparable. To use an important Taoist expression: they arise mutually." – Alan Watts

You kids are so lucky these days, when I was a kid we were lucky if we got a half hour a week of the spoken word of alan, now you can have as much as you want, and get high in peace ! But his talks are just as beautiful today as they were then .

Wow, it’s incredible to find that someone has shared such a huge and organized list of videos on Alan Watts lectures. I will no longer have to search for short pieces scattered around YouTube, thank you so much!

This happened to me this year.
I had gotten pretty bad with day drinking and had basically given up trying to stop.
Started taking small doses of mushrooms in the morning, for a fun experiment at first, but it quickly blew up into a glimpse of awakening.
Stopped habitual drinking in one day, an instant I guess.
Set off on a path to inner peace and outward love, the complete opposite as to how is been living for my entire adult life.

Thank you God Mark for restoring what the internet did to your fathers work. To lose the real names of these videos, change them to some highly dumbed down garbage and chop them up because they don’t have the attention span for the real talk. And to have your background for instance where certain noises on the tape came from etc. brilliant I’m very excited to spread this.

Thank you, Mark. Your father came into my life, almost 10 years ago, at the very moment that I needed it, and changed it forever. I will always feel such gratitude for that, and I appreciate all the work that you've done here. I am the dark and the light. I am both the Ying and the Yang. I am forever now. I am gratitude...

So true that in your early years of life you push and move yourself through a maze of some kind of success. Then there comes the time when Taoism works it’s peace into your life and is the salve to the bruises you acquire getting to that beautiful time of your life.

Omg, is the first time that his full lectures are being properly released with all the episodes in order? And with the history behind the tapes too?
I'm so psyched! I'm gonna devour this! 🙃

Wow I remember as a teen trying to scour the internet for any recordings yet alone in order! Thank you very much. I remember some I needed to replay to try and make out what Alan and the crowd was enjoying. I am thankful to be born in this time when these kinds of things are possible and that people had the forethought to keep his recordings safe.

Ah, my dear interlocutor, you have stumbled upon the cosmic dance floor of existence, where the humorous melodies of life twirl and tango with the absurdity of it all. So, let us embark on a whimsical journey into the realms of existential hilarity.

Imagine, if you will, a cosmic jester with a twinkle in his eye, merrily skipping through the ethereal dimensions. He whispers secrets to the stars, chuckling at the seriousness with which we humans ponder our purpose. With a mischievous grin, he asks, "What is the meaning of life?" and promptly bursts into laughter.

You see, my friend, life is the ultimate cosmic prank, a never-ending game of hide-and-seek. We chase after meaning like a dog chases its tail, only to discover that it was within us all along, wagging with laughter. We strive for success, fame, and fortune, thinking they hold the key to happiness, only to realize that happiness dances in the simplest moments—a good cup of tea, a belly laugh, or the sheer absurdity of existence itself.

But do not fret, for in this cosmic circus, we are all clowns in the grandest of shows. We put on masks and costumes, playing our parts with gusto, unaware that the audience is also part of the spectacle. We chase after goals and achievements, desperately clinging to the illusion of control, while the universe chuckles, knowing that the punchline is in the impermanence of it all.

So, my dear seeker of wisdom, if you find yourself pondering the meaning of life, take a step back and join the cosmic laughter. Embrace the delightful uncertainty, dance with the absurdity, and remember that the joke is on all of us. Life is not a riddle to be solved but a cosmic comedy to be enjoyed, so let us have a good laugh and savor every moment, for the punchline is always in the here and now.

Alan Watts, thank you for all the colors . Awareness in the moment the paint never dries. It flows with each breath.Embrace death each day, and one is fully alive. It will change, and one gathers the flowers that one has picked in the past and the thorns, bewildered, just see through it, a just for a tiny moment, and laugh, cry, those colors of emotions. I have never seen a u- haul following a hearsch with flowers. Have you ? Lol ❤

Be aware that it was roaring around in rocket ships that enabled the miniturised digital electronics that is the rupa body(physical) part of the communication revolution that Alan would have loved so much. Observe how interconnected everything really is. ❤
