You're camping, and it's dusk. As you gather firewood, one of the sticks moves. It's not a stick. It's deadly black mamba. The snake raises its head more than 1 m (4 ft) off the ground. It strikes like lightning, attacking you again and again, then slithers away. What could you do to survive? Are black mambas black all over their bodies? Do these snakes hang out alone or travel in groups? And how fast can you die from a black mamba's venom?

Whether it’s an earthquake, mudslide or shark attack, survive whatever awaits you. How To Survive shows how to endure life-threatening moments with science and survivor stories.

"Don't go near the snake." You may have just saved my life, as I typically approach all snakes without any hesitation.

Fun fact :
The "butterflies-in-your-stomach" is caused by a reduction of blood flow to your gut due to a fight-or-flight response

This is the thing that kept 8 year old me up at night. Watched a documentary on it. Didn’t sleep for a week.

As somebody who lives in africa and has dealt with 2 of these things in the past year... These things are not a joke. Aggressive, like a dog, quick as you can run, and its bite can easily kill you in 40 minutes... And they lift their upper body off thw ground when charging to bite. Not a joke this thing

As a snake catcher in Africa, I know the danger of a Black Mamba and most of the content in this video was exasperated but not beyond the truth. For example, a black mamba may be able to go 19kph but typically that would be in the opposite direction from you. They are just as scared as you and if you leave them alone they will make a hasty escape. However, take precaution, wear those boots, thick jeans, and even a leather jacket if you are particularly petrified. If you are a tourist to Africa the chance you'll actually see a Black Mamba is extremely slim.
