You didnt forget to equip the totem of return, its a glitch that happens when you rejoin you're world.
I lost mine to this exact reason so im very sorry for the loss.

I feel you. When I lost my world - it felt like a small death - the loss of what I built with my soul without the possibility of turning it back. But as they say - "Don't be upset that it's over - be glad that it happened"

It might be a good idea to have a back up expert world just trailing behind your main one so you don't have to feel as bad. That's why my main is my survival world. I just can't do an expert as my main because of losing it to some kind of glitch or lag issues.

RIP Kaz Kingdom😢. I can totally relate to that 100% I lost my expert world because my kid needed my attention when I was in the middle of a fight with a sand wolf. And I was killed in the process.

Hey Kaz I know how it feels to loose something that you work on and I was surprised on how long you lasted on your world. I understand how you died and that does happen to me, something the game was frost and you will not be able to move but you can roll if you are frost but it will take some time for the game to unfreeze and that's need to be fix or so cause it was doing that for some time now but anyways RIP to your world and stay safe

I lost my world with a totem equipped that was just before the lost isles came out. I made another world and tested if it would happen again and it did. So after i made a new world i take my totem out and back in again every time i enter my world its a hassle but i dont to lose my world again so always take a spare too just in case
