I've dealt with this problem for years, even trying my hand at a astoundingly portable version of Linux called Levinux, but gave up and waited for the industry to catch up with my thinking. I remember the days of Levinux and I was quite impressed by the fact that it was small as well as portable. It’s so unfortunate that this project didn’t took off as expected. Definitely something that the devs would have had appreciated before the containers took over the market. I am curious to see how you plan to introduce this type of portability with LXD.
