Fun fact about Joan of Arc's death :
The University of Paris was involved in her condemnation, out of spite. Joan of Arc was for them a sort of icon of "good ignorance", seeing in her some living allegory of the anti-intellectualism crisis met by the University.
When Paris was again under French rule, the University literally had no way to justify what the king could perceive as collaboration and treason. Progressively, the University lost its autonomy that it previously gained from Philippe Auguste in the 1200s.
