The world's most-followed productivity expert, entrepreneur, creator, and New York Times bestselling author, Ali Abdaal, discusses his book “Feel-Good Productivity: How to Do More of What Matters to You.” We think that productivity is all about hard work. That the road to success is lined with endless frustration and toil. But what if there’s another way?

In this revolutionary book, Ali reveals how the science of feel-good productivity can transform your life. He introduces the three hidden 'energisers' that underpin enjoyable productivity, the three 'blockers' we must overcome to beat procrastination, and the three 'sustainers' that prevent burnout and help us achieve lasting fulfillment.

Ali Abdaal is a doctor, entrepreneur, creator, and New York Times bestselling author. He started his creator journey back in 2017 and has since amassed a following of over 7 million people across various platforms and newsletters, and leads a company with over 15 employees. While working as a doctor in the UK's National Health Service, Ali started to document his journey towards living a healthier, happier, more productive life on his YouTube channel and other social media platforms. To date, Ali’s evidence-based videos, podcasts and articles sharing insights into the human mind, have reached hundreds of millions of people all around the world and, in December 2023 he published his first book - Feel-Good Productivity - which quickly became a New York Times and Sunday Times bestseller.

It was a great session. Ali was as insightful as he is always.
My key takeaways.
1. Be more appreciate of others even if it is insincere.
2. Measure your progress. Apps: toggle
3. Ask yourself : How would it look if its more enjoyable?
4. "This one just needs to be reasonable". Because perfection comes with pressure. Mediocre expectations removes the pressure.
5. Do attention training by forcing yourself to focus on a single task for 45 minutes.
6. No one can focus for more than 45 minutes.
7. To get started with a task, tell yourself that I am gonna focus for only 5 mins.
8. Positive self talk: "I control myself "

if your prejudice tells you he shouldn't be on talks to google, because he is a just a YouTuber in your eyes 👀. so try becoming medical doctor only, but don't forget he is also a YouTuber, and newyork times best selling author. all in one pack.

TLDListen by Claude 2. Actionable nuggets:
1. Use a 5-minute hourglass or timer to force yourself to get started on a task for just 5 minutes to overcome procrastination inertia.
2. Ask yourself "What would this look like if it were fun?" when approaching a tedious task, and find ways to incorporate more play, games, or arbitrary challenges.
3. Track metrics like word counts or time spent as a way to "gamify" tasks and make progress more motivating.
4. Before switching between tasks, take 30 seconds to make a specific plan for what you'll do when you return to help reduce attention residue.
5. Put important tasks, breaks, workouts, etc. in your calendar and treat them as commitments.
6. Adopt a mantra like "This one just needs to be reasonable" to lower the stakes and pressure on yourself.
7. Use techniques like playing music, setting time limits, or co-working to make tasks more enjoyable and energizing.
8. Surround yourself with energizing people and be conscious of your own energy - greet people enthusiastically, give compliments, and speak louder.
9. Do attention training by forcing yourself to read/work for 45 minutes without distractions from your phone.
10. Experiment with different techniques and strategies to find out what works best for your personal productivity needs.

Thank you Google and Ali for this talk! Being an athlete this video gave me so much inspiration and reminded me about certain key techniques to get me going during difficult periods, for example when motivation might be low, also due to external factors! Thank you thank you 🫶🏼✨❤️

I used to follow this guy quite regularly but got a growing feeling that productivity videos are common knowledge regurgitated as a money make funnel. It's scamming us. I feel the same about Cal Newport and Simon Sinek.

20:00 play power poeple

interesting concept that some poeple boost our energy and some drain it.

body doubling is a concept replated to "person" but the partner must be energy booster
30:00 interesting 4 types of motivations
35:00 Interesting practical ways to lower the bar in a reasonable manner and move forward
40:00....

I remember when @Google used to invite intellectuals and people with brilliant minds, now they only invite celebrities and YouTubers with nothing to say.
