How To Fix Windows Defender Error 577: Windows Could Not Start The Windows Defender Service

In this tutorial I will be showing you guys how to resolve the follow error:

"Windows could not start the Windows Defender Service service on Local Computer.

Error 577: Windows cannot verify the digital signature for this file. A recent hardware of software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source"

This tutorial will apply for computers, laptops, desktops,and tablets running the Windows 10, Windows 8/8.1, Windows 7 operating systems.Works for all major computer manufactures (Dell, HP, Acer, Asus, Toshiba, Lenovo, Samsung).

Local group policy editing helped me, Defender turn off was ENABLED. Thank you

Thank you much, bro. You really saved me. I usb tethered to my pc and updated FormatFactory and pc automatically downloaded '360 protection junk' and my windows defender stopped by itself. I tried to uninstall so hard that stupid 360 and it took a while, it didn't easily deleted. After being deleted, I can't turn on Protection anymore. I searched a couple of videos but they're USELESS. And after 2 hours, your video was appeared with the RIGHT TITLE of "error 577". My pc is EVENTUALLY turn on the Windows Defender.

Well, in case if you are having a "1" value by default when you open the registry, then change it to "0" instead, then it should work. Worked for me.

My Sony laptop did not have "DisableAntiSpyware" in my Windows defender drop down menu. I added a new DWORD (32bit) Value as can be seen in the video, double-clicked on it and changed "Value Data:" to 1 instead of 0 which was set by default and Voila...my Windows Defender opened up. When I went back to "DisableAntiSpyware" the value has gone back to 0 but it still works. Thanks a bunch!

thanks a lot man. I have tried a lot of things with regedit services and a lot of other things but couldnt start some windows defender services. the thing with the edit of group policy did my thing, i didnt know that. Thank you for this. My windows defender is back on.

My windows defender is still showing enable program by group policy
