So, yeah. I think what Kiri is is a Kamikiri, a praying mantis-like Yokai which is known for attacking people and cutting hair. Back then, hair was a status symbol like the topknot or long hair for women representing beauty. It was considered a criminal offense to cut hair without the consent of the person. But she was also mixed together with some other bloodsucking Yokais much like how Taya is a combination of a Jorogumo and Tsuchigumo in that she is female, but lacks an Oni face, and "Tsuchigumo" because they were considered cave dwellers.
