That Hannibal foreshadowing was great. Still can’t believe the Roman’s built 5 fleets and they kept getting destroyed by storms…

Honestly fairplay to Regulus for literally going home and willingly coming back knowing he would be tortured to death. The balls on his statue must have taken awhile to make.

The Roman spirit is basically
“If at first you don’t succeed adopt what your enemies do and do it better. If at second you don’t succeed, keep fighting until you do.”

Waiting for a new Oversimplified video is like waiting for a new GTA. It takes an eternity but when new stuff is dropped it's always worth the hype. I want to believe

roman history is literally the perfect backdrop for oversimplified because the amount of ridiculous tactics and scenarios that occur are totally exploitable for his great comedy

"At this point there was still not a clear winner"
I disagree. I feel like the ocean has objectively won on all fronts.

Even being an italian, meaning our schools focused a lot on teaching roman history, the first punic war was vastly overlooked, only pointing out how it made Rome build a big fleet to counter the carthagineans. This gave me a whole new perspective on the punic wars and I can't wait to see the second and the third punic wars videos!

I love how it takes a while for Oversimplified to post, but when he does, it’s an entire series and you end up watching the whole series in one sitting

"You're a politician! Lie to the people!"

Well, looks like that line changed the entire course of history forever.

"Stop telling our baby he's vengeance" is a phrase that pops into my head almost every day. So excited for the new vid!

The Best Thing About Oversimplified Is The Fact That He Uploads Both Parts In The SAME DAY!

21:13 It's so cute hearing Hannibal trying to say the word "Vengance" as a baby.
This guy is on his way to become that. Great video!!

19:44 No wonder hamilcar got so mad at the romans, they made Hamilcar the only character in entire Oversimplified videos unable to say Uncool

That Hannibal 'reveal' at the end was so cinematic. foreshadowing for a sequel right out of a tv show or movie or something. a son coming back for revenge is classic

Imagine he drops like a 70 hour video talking about everything in the history of humanity

Let’s just take a second to appreciate how cool the Punic Wars are.

The Punic Wars lasted from 246 BCE to 146 BCE with interwar periods. In the second punic war, the largest and most famous one, well over a million men fought and that is putting it lightly, it’s got fighting monsters, yes monsters, blood oaths and two rival families fighting for the fate of the world, it’s so fantastical that it actually happened.

would also like to take second to appreciate just how much rested on these conflicts between Rome and Carthage. They fought for control of what was to them, the whole world.

If Rome hadn’t had it’s tenacity and prowess, and had it lost The Punic Wars, our world would be so unimaginably and vastly different that we wouldn’t be able to comprehend it.

Just to scratch the surface, modern languages, the legal system, our roads, welfare system and politics just to name a few.

But our world would also be different in the way of culture and the history would be incredibly different and completely alien to us.

Just read the responses and yes this is pretty much just straight yanked from Extra History, go watch their Punic War episodes they are really good!! I can also recommend reading livy's book on the second punic war, or a podcast about it because it is an amazingly boring read

21:21, the dialogue delivery, along with the background score, literally sent shivers down my spine.
