I couldn’t judge the depth of the area you filled, but I wondered if maybe gluing in some core foam and shaping would have been lighter and easier work. I always try to avoid making huge chunks of thickened epoxy when possible.

I'm a master glassman who built Hinckleys jet yachts for years. Just a suggestion. You like to save materials, I strongly suggest you setup a "down draft" mixing box for putty making. JUST a cardboard box of your own design going to a vacuum cleaner with a filter and "A VAC BAG" you will minimize your silica floating around and if its only use for that, you are collecting your lost filler that could be used again.

I don't own a boat nor am I a sailor, but watching you refit that boat makes me wish I had the money for it or that I live closer and could come and help in some way.
