The employment of artificial intelligence (AI) in education has increased exponentially over the past several years, both in school and out-of-school. This has included the development of AI robots designed to interact with children and help to facilitate their socioemotional and cognitive development. While promising what's often overlooked are the racial logics haunting the technosocial system. Through a case study of an AI robot, this lecture will examine how colonial logics of racial hierarchies become built into the axioms of the technology, pointing toward needed directions in educational research and policy.
