Mysterious Genetic Origins of Native Americans Tracked to China

According to recent genetic and DNA research, some of the first Native Americas came from the north coast of China. According to a new genomics research, some of the initial arrivals occurred during the last ice age and shortly thereafter, in two different migrations. People from the north coast of China were among the earliest humans to arrive in the Americas, arriving in two independent migrations during and after the last ice age, according to a new genomics research.

Explorers might have arrived in the New World by a terrestrial route through an ice-free corridor, although this was most likely not the initial migration. The kelp highway theory is the polar opposite of the old 'ice-free corridor' route. The findings suggest that, in addition to the previously identified ancestral sources of Native Americans in Siberia, northern coastal China acted as a genetic reservoir that contributed to the gene pool.

I spent a week in Lhasa, Tibet back in 1984. I was struck by how many of the local people looked just like Native Americans.

Tremendous, I have always felt compelled to pursue knowledge and power in order to contribute to the betterment of humanity. Been seeking a means to be influential and find out more knowledge about the human race and about the things not everyone is destined to know. I wish to fulfill the goal of enlightenment passed down by our forebears.

Today we have teenagers and pensioners rowing across the atlantic in 20ft row boats on an annual basis, to actually believe that ancient people couldn't do the same journey or sail/row around the world in regular month long steps is arrogance beyond belief.

The root of East Asians, such as Chinese, Koreans, or Japanese, but also Northeast Asians, Siberians as well as Southeast Asians, Pacific Islanders and Native Americans, can be traced back to the “Ancestral East Asians” (also known as Basal-East Asians or basal East-Eurasians “bEE”),they are all related to ancient Southeast Asians

A review paper by Melinda A. Yang (in 2022) summarized and concluded that a distinctive "Basal-East Asian population" referred to as 'East- and Southeast Asian lineage' (ESEA)(CDNOP); which is ancestral to modern East Asians, Southeast Asians, Polynesians, and Siberians, originated in Mainland Southeast Asia at ~50, 000 BCE, and expanded through multiple migration waves southwards and northwards, respectively. This ESEA lineage is also ancestral to the Hoabinhian hunter-gatherers of Southeast Asia and the ~40, 000-year-old Tianyuan lineage found in Northern China

Professor of anthropology, Akazawa Takeru (赤沢威) at the International Research Center for Japanese Studies, Kyoto, said that there were Neo-Mongoloids(O2N1aC2) and Paleo-Mongoloids(C1D1K). Akazawa said Neo-Mongoloids have "extreme Mongoloid, cold-adapted features" and they included the Chinese, Buryats, Eskimo and Chukchi…. In contrast, Akazawa said Paleo-Mongoloids are less cold-adapted. He said Burmese, Filipinos, Polynesians, Jōmon and the indigenous peoples of the Americas were Paleo-Mongoloid.

There are currently eight detected, closely related, sub-ancestries in the ESEA lineage:
1,Amur ancestry (C2)– Associated with populations in the Amur River region, Mongolia, and Siberia, as well as parts of Central Asia.

Modern Northeast Asians(Tungus, Mongols)consist mostly of the "Amur ancestry" which expanded massively with millet cultivation.

2,Fujian ancestry (O1a)– Associated with ancient samples in the Fujian region of Southern China, and modern Austronesian-speaking populations.

The Ancient Southern East Asians (ASEA) can be broadly differentiated into two subgroups, namely the Fujian ancestry component, and an ancestry component peaking among Austroasiatic speakers (Ydna O1b1)(specifically modern day Mlabri people), as well as among the Manobo on the Philippines.

In Southeast Asia, ASEA ancestry is combined in varying degrees with deeply diverged Asian hunter-gatherers ("Basal-East Asians") ancestry associated with the Hoabinhian material culture.

3,Yellow River ancestry (O2a)– Associated with populations in the Yellow River region and common among Sino-Tibetan-speakers.

Contemporary East Asians (most notably Sino-Tibetan speakers) consist mostly of Yellow River ancestry, associated with both millet and rice cultivation.

"East Asian Highlanders"(D1) (Associated with 3, 000-year-old individuals in the Himalayan region of the Tibetan Plateau.) consist of both the Ancient Tibetan ancestry and Yellow River ancestry

4,Jōmon ancestry (C1 and D1)– Ancestry associated with 8, 000–3, 000-year-old individuals in the Japanese archipelago.

Japanese people were found to have a tripartite origin; consisting of Jōmon ancestry, Amur ancestry, and Yellow River ancestry.

5,Tianyuan ancestry (P/QR)– Ancestry on the ESEA lineage associated with an Upper Paleolithic individual dating to 40, 000 years ago in northern China.

Indigenous peoples of the Americas formed from Ancient North Eurasians and from an early East Asian branch, giving rise to "Ancestral Beringians", which gave rise to both "Paleosiberians" and contemporary Native Americans.(Q+C2)

6,Hòabìnhian ancestry (C1 and D1)– Ancestry on the ESEA lineage associated with 8, 000–4, 000-year-old hunter-gatherers in Laos and Malaysia.

7,Guangxi ancestry – Associated with a 10, 500-year-old individual from Longlin, Guangxi.

8,Liao River ancestry (N1a)..
The genetic connection between Turkic and Mongolic peoples (and the historical Xiongnus) is a shared root from the Northeast Asian genepool, specifically Baikal hunter-gatherers(Ydna Q+R1a), Amur hunter-gatherers(Ydna C2) and Liao river farmers(Ydna N1a).

According to the results published by Nature (journal), Turkic, Mongolic, Koreanic, Japonic and Tungusic languages can be traced back to the first farmers moving across Northeast Asia from the Early Neolithic onwards, where they split from a common ancestor around the Liaodong Gulf, near Korea, 9000 years ago.

I am a data scientist and Apache Indian. I have studied biomedical sciences, DNA, biochemistry, etc. I am also a biomedical engineer. Personally, I find the migration theory across the ancient Bering Strait to be fascinating. The Apaches were known to the Navajos as the "Mountain People" for extreme mountain running. One theory regarding Siberia and the Apaches is that we have genetic overlap with the mountain climbing Sherpas of Nepal. The theory is that a branch went across the Bering Strait and continued the mountain lifestyle and migration all the way down the Rockies into the modern Four Corners Region. Parallel to all this, the Sherpas in Asia are known as elite mountain climbers and hold records for ascending Mt. Everest (which is an Anglicized name - the actual Asian name is different). But as a graduate of Arizona, one local anthropologist remained a skeptic and asserted that a body needs to be recovered from along that Bering Strait to study the DNA more conclusively. So, from the purview of academic debate, the Bering Strait theory is "highly plausible" but not convincing to some scientists. I share that view - a site with remains should be studied from a scientific perspective. But much of that area of migration is now under water. Moreover, from the traditional Apache perspective, it is culturally blasphemous to disturb the sites of ancient burial grounds. I know archeologists just blatantly ignore such cultural boundaries. The ongoing research could someday uncover such sites with remains that could add more details just as the 10, 000 year old Siberian site of remains added a new chapter to the unfolding story.

Native Americans are Asian decent. They were the first group of people who migrated to the America's well before Christopher Columbus voyage in 1492.

I have mostly N European with Native American mixed (90/10%). I know where my family comes from in detail, but I get a Japan/Korea/China in my DNA test. The only way I got that DNA is through the Native American.

The origin of the Native American population in North America can be traced back to the Pamir Plateau. Some groups of individuals from this region migrated and settled in Manchuria and Korea. Eventually, a restless group of these migrants journeyed all the way to North America, where they became known as the Apache and other indigenous tribes.

When considering the Oxacans in Southern Mexico, it is notable that their language and physical appearance bear similarities to those of Asians. There is a theory suggesting that they may be descendants of lost Chinese sea explorers from the Song Dynasty.

However, it is important to exercise caution when using the term "China" in this context. The term "China" is relatively modern, and historical designations and boundaries of regions have evolved over time.

As an East Asian, I noticed a lot of similarities between the Native American culture and East Asian culture, such as in shamanism and herbal medicines. It would not surprise me at all if some East Asians from China traveled to Americas and settled there. They probably mixed with other ethnic groups and became different looking, because Native Americans look pretty different to me depending on tribes.

I've always been fascinated by and drawn to South East Asian culture. According to my father, his great grandmother was a Cherokee Native American. Now things make more sense.

I have had an interest in pre-Columbian peoples of the Americas for the last 25 years. Evidence of at least 3 migrations to the Americas exist. They happened thousands of years apart. Central Asia, ancient Japan (Oregon) and ancient New Guinea (Chile) all have been shown to contribute to people in the Americas. There are probably more. There is so much that we do not know.

Not surprising to me, the culture of the Shang Dynasty.. very early Chinese civilisation seems very similar to that of the Mayans.. in terms of religious practice... involving human sacrifices and offering to the gods.
