Would like to see a comparison between Ashekenazi, Sephardic and Mizrahi DNA.

I'm Ashkenazi. My family came from Germany to America in several stages from about 1888 to 1921. Some distant relatives arrived as early as 1774. I have red hair, blue eyes and fair skin. But many of my relatives are darker in complexion, hair, and eye. Though red hair does seem to pop up a lot. And yes, I have a big schnoz. It's cool though lol!

This mixture is obvious just by looking at Askenazi Jews: they range from swarthy, black curly haired and dark eyed individuals typical of the Middle East to Aryan looking types with light skin, blond hair and blue eyes, as well as everything in between and also some red heads.

Excellent video and chosen at critical time. I’m so glad that politics hasn’t yet entered the comments here and will stay rational and respectful.

I’d be interested in the Mizrachi and Sephardic Jews DNA as well as the Ethiopian Jews.

Makes sense, many people I know who are half Arab and half white, just end up looking incredibly Ashkenazi Jewish

Thank you for this. According to my dna I'm 100% Ashkenazi Jewish and this couldn't have been more timely. Thank you for dispelling the Khazar link

Im 100% ashkenazi Jew and I look marrocan, greek, lebanese or somewhere in between. Dark hair, olive skin, hazel eyes. Despite my ancestors living in Poland and Germany for centuries. Ive always wondered were did my ancestors lived before central and north Eastern Europe

Tens of thousands of Jews also lived in Rome, Greece, and Egypt prior to the exile in 70 AD

I have been looking forward for this kind of high quality work for decades. I am from the Levant and all what I have heard about who we are was closer to folktales. I agree that finding out that we are not who we thought we were, and they are not who they thought they were, brings us closer to understanding each other..

One critical detail that is left out is that there was a massive genetic bottleneck in the Askenzai DNA history somewhere around 900 AD when a small community of maybe no more than a few thousand Jews settled in the Rhineland of present day Germany. The genetic makeup of those Jews was MORE diverse than their 10 million descendents 1, 000 years later. A considerable portion of Ashkenazi Jews are believed to be descendants of just two or three women, which is confirmed by the study of their mitochondrial DNA. It is hypothesized that Ashkenazi Jews are the offspring of men of Semetic origins who lived in southern Europe who married Northern Italian (aka Roman) women and migrated north into Germany where their DNA forked from their Sephardic cousins.

Be as it may be, there’s no denying that jews left brown and came back white. The jews who didn’t leave remained as they were originally like the Arabs.

23andMe had me as Jewish and Italian ancestry before they had enough data (and probably my input) to match my Ottoman Empire Syrian ancestry to their report. I’d like to see the latest update reflecting the new data they’ve acquired in the past couple years. Interesting video.
