NASA Designs a Motor That Can Approach the Speed of Light but Also Breaks the Laws of Physics!

Stephen Hawking gave us some urgent advice. The astrophysicist, who died in 2018, stated that the survival of mankind could only be ensured by moving to another celestial body. According to him, colonizing other planets would prevent our species from becoming extinct in the long run. The problem: With our current technical means, it is simply not possible for us to colonize an alien celestial body in a timely manner. Such an undertaking would take several centuries - countless generations would be condemned to spend their lives aboard a spaceship. But fortunately, the status quo is not set in stone: Experts are already looking for new technologies to give space travel of the future an unprecedented boost in speed. And indeed, some scientists have already come up with breathtaking concepts in this regard. These include not only a propulsion system that does not require fuel, but also a technology that is supposed to enable us to travel faster than the speed of light! But what are the backgrounds of these groundbreaking ideas? How likely is it that they will one day become reality? Together with you, we want to take a closer look at this exciting topic today!

It's one thing to travel at light speed but another to actually slow down once you reach your destination.

I recently seen a plasma drive which turned the air with electricity into a forceful stream of plasma out the backend. His model wouldn't fly in our gravity but in space, it will get you moving rather fast. He said that he has more ideas to increase output.

First of all, since I'm OCD about word usage (or shall I say, "proper" word usage) the title of this video should read: "NASA Designs an ENGINE (not a motor) That Can Approach the Speed of Light.... A motor IS NOT used for propulsion, an engine is. A motor IS, however, used in things like Electric Vehicles; because it is the Motor that turns the EV's driveshaft/axles, which translates to the turning of the wheels, which then cause the vehicle to accelerate! And yes, a "Lightspeed ENGINE" DOES break the law of Physics because as an object's velocity increases toward C (Lightspeed), so does its mass! This is why it is impossible for any object (other than MASSLESS particles, i.e., photons) to attain this Universal Speed-Limit of 299, 792, 458 m/s (*Only true in a Vacuum - as the speed of light WILL slow in certain mediums, i.e., water, the atmosphere, etc.) (although the difference in measurement of C is so small in Earth's atmosphere it's practically negligible, but the absolute speed of light only applies in the "Vacuum" of space, or in a man-made vacuum in a lab). I posit that a "Warp-Drive" that functions by the "Folding" or "Warping" of spacetime is much more likely to be invented anytime in this century rather than a "Lightspeed ENGINE."

The best way to travel into the future (aside from simply existing in your day to day life, because we are all time travelers in that regard; and all travel 24.25 hours into the future each time the globe rotates on its axis - and if one person is atop Mt Everest and another is at sea-level, the one atop Everest will age a fraction of a nanosecond less lol) BUT it is theoretically possible to build a multi-generational ship and travel toward the center of the Milky Way galaxy, and to then get the ship into a "stable" orbit (depending on how good the pilot is {Borg Queen? - aka my silly Star Trek: Picard Reference} around the "Sagittarius A" Super-Massive Black Hole, fly around for a few decades, then return to the Earth and depending on how long you ("You" - in the general sense) spent circling the black hole; by the time you return, the Earthlings (if we don't blow ourselves up first) will be tens, if not hundreds of thousands of years into a relative future compared to the only hundreds or thousands of years that the crew of the spaceship spent travelling. If I had all of the variables, I could probably figure it out mathematically, but for the sake of "My Time" - I have better things to do - especially since my main point of commenting was to merely make the correction between "Motor" and "Engine" lmfao. Too much TIME spent already.. sry all, I gotta go!

This was more about James Webb telescope than bloody FTL drives!

Since "Gravitons" can escape black holes. Is gravity a form or not form of negative energy?

Even at the speed of light, It will still take years, decades, and centuries to reach other stars and planets. What humans need in order to travel to other exoplanets is something that can go 5 or 6 times faster than the speed of light.

i mean... guys. pls. i rly enjoy the content, and your videos are great, informational, and most likely up to date (still lots of materialist mistakes denying quantum physics which are not your fault), but the titles! please! i kindly ask you write correct and not clickbait titles. its missleading and very very disappointing in the end... i think ppl could have been enjoy these videos of yours if they get what you have said in the title. you know what im sayin... thank you anyway

No they didn't. Anyway, light speed is WAY WAY WAY too slow to be worthwhile. Your best hope is to send probes capable of going ahead of us, and thousands of years later sending a digital copy of your consciousness to the probe, only at the speed of light, but when it (you) arrive and is downloaded at the probe you can experience whatever is there. Of course you can't come back to tell yourself or anyone you know because you all will have been dead for eons. So that too is pretty moot.

No traffic cop needed. No speed limit in space. Speed of light varies in different mediums anyway.

NASA seems to have taken a leaf from tech companies like Uber of “move fast and break things” except we are talking breaking the laws of physics itself here.

Ok well it shouldn't take that long due to other technologies being looked at like solar sails or nuclear fission/fusion Propulsion or more their dozens apon dozens of engine concepts

❤❤ I’m 100 behind Steve hawking! The reality is if we don’t go the same way as the dinosaurs did then we need to seriously think about interstellar travel!

What kind of metal will be used to build it? I would think at those speeds it will get extremely hot, especially the leading edges.

The Hoover vacuum drive... It sucks the vacuum of space in thru the front & spews it out the back, creating thrust.
& there's a paper bag to collect all the quantum foam & dust particles it encounters along the way.

So, what is the design that NASA has? I don't think you've answered that question.

Once human have enough understanding about dark energy and manage to manipulate it, maybe interstellar trip will finally come true. We only need to find a way to "make" a new space behind the ship, similiar to how dark energy works to expand the universe. So we dont even bother to think about slowing down in the end of the trip. Just simply turn the engine off. But the big question is.... HOW TO DO IT :(

So much info I’m lost in it all yet I want more. Microwave proportion and laser use
Interest me as a way of travel. Not yet for humans but for robots. But with the use of breadcrumbs from earth to mars as a test in other words place tiny satellites between the two planets so we can communicate in the future with robots on mars. Just as a test. I truly believe we the world can do this.

I think anything above Warp Factor 9 got kinda dangerous.
