I just recieved my Clifton 9 Hoka and I love them, the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned.

Love my Clifton 9’s.. going on 350 miles and feels better than ever! In fact, I just ran a marathon in them and felt great!

Seth, the score summary at about 0:30 is the one for the Saucony Speedcross 6. No biggie, just letting you know. Another great review on the Clifton! Thanks for all you do!

I’m currently recovering from a severe flare in my spondylolisthesis. For those who may not know, the disc above my L4 vertebrae is deteriorating quicker than it should. With that being said I used to box and have been a very active person throughout my life and this shoe has been a god send in order for me to get back to where I used to be.

I have a heel to toe stride and this shoe has been the BEST at supporting me on my long jogs. If you have any issues with your body or have the same stride as me I definitely recommend you going to give them a try.

I agree that hoka breaks down much quicker than most brands and I've run in mizuno, asics, brooks, NB, Nike, Saucony and Adidas in my 38 years of running. But with my older body and knees I appreciate the softness of their shoes.

My favorite Clifton yet. Big improvement over the 8. Have about 200 miles on mine and the upper is starting to get a little loose if that makes any sense. (You can look and tell it has 200 miles.)

LOL - on timestamp @5:59 you could clearly see Seth wanted to say "Just buy it for the softness" but then he realized he couldn't say that out loud on camera. Notice the body language becoming defensive after realizing he messed up. @Seth - don't be afraid to tell us that Hoka sponsored this video or your trip to NYC! Don't claim to be unbiased, that would be unethical and unfair to consumer who value your opinion!

This shoe could be best suited for those who prefer a long run shoe with a stack height that falls between a max cushion shoe and a daily trainer, which is what I was looking for. With that in mind, I feel the weight is fine. I think this shoe decreases my recovery time after a long run probably due to it's midsole softness. I'm very much satisfied with my selection and surprised that you wouldn't recommend it for a long run, but to each their own.

My Hoka midsole experience is from the Clifton 6, which also had a soft midsole and little energy return. Eventually the midsole became firmer which improved the ride until the outsole gave out and I retired the shoes at 415 miles.

What I do with my Clifton 9s is get them about half a size too small. It’s tight yet comfortable and feels fast

QoD: Ive run in the Clifton 6 and 7 and didn't find either to be particularly soft, just a nice average ride. Got around 500 miles out of them and got them both on sale for 58 bucks so can't complain. Using my second pair of Mach 4s now and have to say that they have held up way better than expected. I'd buy a closet full of them if I could find them.

Serious question, how do you miss Saucony speedcross 6?.. In a hoka shoe review?

QoD: My Clifton 7 are still going strong at 400 miles and I think I can do 50/60 more miles in them easily. On the other side, the Rincon 3 midsole was dead at 200 miles, luckily I got them on sale 40% off.

If you’re a big guy with wide feet, and you’re looking for a shoes for long distance / daily trainer; I cannot find any shoes that perform better than the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 22. Durable, really wide sole and the midsole doesn’t breakdown.

If you tend to roll your ankle, the Adrenaline has a really stable wide sole. Heavier than most but if you’re a heavy person, it makes little difference

I wear the Clifton 8s for my every day, out and about shoes. They’re very comfy for long hours on my feet. I knew when I wore them to Disneyland once and didn’t have “Disneyland feet”, as my mom calls them, at the end of the day that they were a great shoe.

Thanks Seth. My problem with Hoka is the durability of the inside heel section. No foot deformity on either foot, but the lining in that section breaks down after just 200 kilometres, with big holes being present once I reach the 800 kilometre mark. Big Hoka fan, but for this reason now considering a brand change.

QD: First pair of Rincons around 225.. Dead
Second pair around 215… Dead
Mach 4 which is one of my favorite shoes 210… Dead
Speedgoat 5… 130 whole shoe dead!
Only one that has held up Speedgoat 4. Basically every hoka I have owned never surpassed 250 miles and reason I didn’t buy the Mach 5

I've had a love hate relationship with the Clifton. I've been running in them since the 4 or 5. They were pivotal in getting me past a long term running issue stemming from my back. Unfortunately there are a lot of negatives that have caused me to look elsewhere. The fit and midsole's have been fairly poor for me. The shape of my foot just never quite fits right. It's always just a little bit off (read as narrow). Not enough to buy something else but enough to make it so it's not quite as comfortable as I'd like. The midsoles seem to be bottoming out quicker and quicker these days and the foam just seems to feel dead and not enjoyable to run in anymore. I'm wondering if after running in some more modern and better foams anything EVA just doesn't feel as good. I likely won't buy the Clifton 9 since I've found some other shoes that are a lot more enjoyable to fun in and are more comfortable.

I just picked up a pair of the Clifton 9s a few weeks. So far I’m liking the increased stack height. Definitely not a good shoe if your trying to go faster because of how squishy it is. Overall a nice shoe though in my opinion 💪🏼😎

Totally agree with you Seth. I find many of the Hoka shoes eyelet chaains are narrow. I have an average foot width and sometime the laces are pulled to touching each side of the chain.
By the way … what month is TL due? Praying for you all 🙏🏽
