oh bunny there is a huge world of ball jointed dolls! BJD is a very in depth yet niche community with tons of things to find and diy involved via doing the dolls face makeup, making wigs for the dolls and clothes! they become so elaborate but - I think you would have a lot of fun seeing all the interesting options out there, from VOLKs dollfies, and indie brands. <3

Bjd collector here. Just want to share/clarify that "shugo fairy" is a recaster company and the label they used "Guardian of Love" is the real doll brand for the sculpt :(

Blythe and Bjd not the same, but often collected by the same people. He’s really cool. I’ve got 9 bjd, most of mine are volks. Anyway congrats on your cool new doll!

I don’t have much knowledge on ball jointed dolls but I do on Blythe dolls. Blythe was originally introduced in 1972 by Kenner toy co. and an original 70’s Blythe doll in mint condition is usually a couple thousand dollars. They only sold the go for a year. Now blythe has become a style of doll that you can get customized or to customize yourself. They are not always ball jointed, the og was not, and you can get a blank slate blythe to customize for pretty cheap. There are also different sizes, the original, the middie and the petite. I myself have an og 1972 Blythe that was in rough condition but I’ve been taking care of her, she was free. I have a modern Blythe that my brother got me and she is semi customized and ball jointed and I love her. And I have a petite LPS Blythe 😊

Shuga Fairy is a doll recaster. Their dolls are bought from legit companies and illegally recasted for profit. They could always make their own dolls but I guess they don’t want to go through the trouble of sculpting.

This is a BJD :D actually it's a knock off BJD from Joydoll's J-baby OMG you need to get an original from Joydoll herself because, the come in a little coffin box and are handmade with accessories much thicker than this one. I've got a pink one she's so gorgeous!!! :D

I have videos about Blythe if you want more info. They are very separate and different then BJD but there is of course cross over with collectors. The world of custom Blythe is huge and very different then the world of stock dolls produced by the manufacturer. 💖💖

That's definitely not Blythe. Hes very cute though. Ali Express has cheap fake blythes that people customize on Etsy. Really beautiful dolls

There are hundreds of different BJD dolls. Animals, humans, alien, fantasy creatures, anime style, realistic dolls and more.

Some of the best known companies are Fairyland dolls same with smart dolls, Popovy Sisters dolls, and Harucasting dolls. There is plenty of other brands as well like big scale companies to smaller even one person companies/artists. Even affordable BJD blind boxes

BJDs can be made of plastic, resin, vinyl, porcelain and many other materials. They can also be different scales and body types, colors and sizes

I happen to own 10 different BJD dolls. Most are from instagram artists I discovered. Two of my dolls are second hand which I can confirm are authentic dolls.

I get most of my clothes, wigs and eyes from Etsy but have also made my own.

It would be so fun to buy a lot of these and paint them all different. Or maybe do different paintings on them, like starry night and so on.

Technically, Blyhe are not ball jointted, as their bodies are not strung. The idea of stringing a Blythe-proporttioned body terrifies the heck out of me, though. But Blythes and Pullips are a weird category. Not exactly playline, because they're considered collector items, especially custom Blythes.

Remove back of head plate, mold eye putty around back of the eye, then place in the socket. What you were doing in the video was close to correct, albeit just in the wrong place. Also the head is probably floppy/loose because it's less likely for the resin to break in shipping. You'd be expected to tighten the string inside the head to tighten the joints and string overall. To change the hands You'd either need s-hooks in the hand string, magnetic hands which are available with some BJD brands, or you would have to unstring and restring the doll to change them out.
