I think World War Hulk really typifies a certain kind of event comic that would only become more prominent in the years following: the major story arc from an ongoing series that gets turned into an event comic. The good version of this is something like A.X.E.: Judgment Day, where a story arc that was originally planned for Eternals was expanded into something much grander and more interesting, whereas the bad version is something like King in Black which was mostly just a Venom story arc with a lot of tie ins.

This is probably one of my favorite events because it doesn’t pretend to be more than it is. There is a lot of good character work done ( something that alot fail to do) and the tie-ins aren’t that important

Hulk's speech at the start of this one is one of THE best speeches in comics
No I will not be taking questions.

Planet Hulk and World War Hulk are some really good comics, I like how its contained and not requiring to read a whole lot of other content, wish more events were like this, with defined begins, middles and ends

Planet Hulk and WWH are two of very few Marvel events that I’ve enjoyed.

Nice video dude. I read PH and WWH without knowing they were part of an event. Here in Chile they were sold on a collection that included both titles. I never expected the whole Conan on space angle to work.

Planet Hulk is the only Hulk I've read and I had a blast with it. Conan in space for sure! Didn't realize that World War Hulk was a direct continuation - will need to check it out.

Have you done a video on Immortal Hulk? Anyways I think that’s the best Hulk Run to date by a long shot!

Ah, the event that killed my enjoyment of collecting individual issues. I hade been a big Ghost Rider fan since I was a kid and was very happy that the questionable Nick Cage movie jump started a new series. It was the first series I ever had new issues set aside for me at the local shop. It was a weird and uneven series that took a lot of odd chances. I appreciated that. Issue 12 was a World War Hulk tie in. It was an awesome slugfest in which Ghost Rider was so badly pummeled that the Johnny Blaze personality basically went comatose ad the Spirit of Vengeance took over and KOed The Hulk. To me, this was exciting to see. It was set up to have an issue or two with the Rider being out of control. That sounded fascinating! Next issue, it was back to status quo with a exposition blurb from Johnny saying "me and the Rider sorted it out." It was such a cop out. It went back to a random separate villain. I couldn't tell if maybe there was behind the scenes interference, or they never wanted to do the WWH story in the first place. It left a bad taste in my mouth that I'm still salty about 17 years later. I think this was the final nail in the coffin for me following anything from the big 2. I'm either getting a TPB of a full story, or I'm sticking to creator owned series that don't require a million tie ins.

This reminds me of the od micro- verse story from the Incredible Hulk series where he found and married Jarella, only to lose her later. It seems that any woman who becomes involved with him meets a tragic end.

I strongly agree that the World War Hulk should have been relegated to Hulk's solo title. Having major character-changing events happen outside said character's comic makes the ongoing series feel like filler, which is a problem most Big Two comics suffer from nowadays.

I'm not a big marvel fan. Huge fan of moon knight, daredevil, x men, and punisher. Other than that I'm not a marvel guy, but these videos are so damn entertaining makes me wanna try hulk

You may have convinced me to go back and pick this up :) My relationship with this title has been specific to Immortal Hulk by Ewing (which is off-the-charts good).

A Marvel comic or several I might buy.
You have provided a review/reveal beyond the at least two hours of hype I've had to deal with at a Comic Shop.
Until this date of now, the insane price for this "event, " riding with the other Marvel products of addiction, had
me shy away....some trade with very old print back issues can help as the Gold values drop a bit.

Thinking about Immortal Hulk. After Swamp Thing and The League of Extra ordinary Gentlemen, the concept
of this thing looks like fun. Ghost Hulk, Dino Hulk, Liquid Hulk....the bottom is near.
I believe we will never know the heights and lame depths of this character or the side effects of how Marvel is
at the brink of zero products....the Disneyverse and the economic cycles do conspire much.

I miss The miss Herby Trempe !!

I’ll start off by saying, I’ve never read this storyline, so I have no idea whether or not this is a good story. The impression I get with stories like WW Hulk is that it’s basically a remix of stories that have already been told. The storyline sounds like a mix of Fantastic Four 25-26 (Hulk vs everyone), and the Jarella/Microverse stories, just told told in a much more complex manner than the simple and to the point stories of the silver and Bronze Age. Also, the characters who make the Illuminati have worked with the Hulk/Banner to the point where it doesn’t seem characteristic of them to do something like this to the Hulk.
