The little voices inside Riley’s head know her inside and out—but next summer, everything changes when Disney and Pixar’s “Inside Out 2” introduces a new Emotion: Anxiety. According to director Kelsey Mann, the new character promises to stir things up within headquarters. “Anxiety, voiced by Maya Hawke, might be new to the crew, but she’s not really the type to take a back seat,” said Mann. “That makes a lot of sense if you think about it in terms of what goes on inside all our minds.”

Disney and Pixar’s “Inside Out 2” returns to the mind of newly minted teenager Riley just as headquarters is undergoing a sudden demolition to make room for something entirely unexpected: new Emotions! Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust, who’ve long been running a successful operation by all accounts, aren’t sure how to feel when Anxiety shows up. And it looks like she’s not alone. Maya Hawke lends her voice to Anxiety, alongside Amy Poehler as Joy, Phyllis Smith as Sadness, Lewis Black as Anger, Tony Hale as Fear, and Liza Lapira as Disgust. *Fun Fact: it could be that sacrifice of Bing Bong, listening will seem stupid, but for me it made sense. Joy being the leader, she has to keep stable and memorable memories no, maybe that kind of energy has consumed her and failed.*

There was actually a scrapped idea of Joy least that's what I saw in the concept art book, so maybe this was a foreshadowing of what was going to godness that was my favourite character and if they kept that idea it probably would have been the saddest scene ever and I would have been crying for hours 😭, glad that didn't happened

Is there a deleted scene with Anger, Disgust and Fear crying while blaming themselves for failing Riley, and Joy saying that she's really no good for her while making herself feel small?

This absolutely should have been in the movie. All of those moments where Joy breaks down due to fear of not being need anymore and especially the ending would have made far more sense

It’s nice to see more of the camaraderie between the emotion family in the bedroom and HQ. Disgust joking with Fear and Anger offering to take the night shift.

I get when you get older, you feel less joy, but this is taking it TOO litteraly

2:18 Sadness is responsible for empathy, so it makes sense that she’s the first to see that something’s wrong with Joy. And I get what’s happening. If you have dealt with depression, you can understand. You feel like you can’t feel as happy as you did before, and it’s not like it’s impossible for you to feel happy, it just feels muted and less like the joy you felt as a child. You feel like your happiness is constantly flickering like a broken light or something. Joy in this is literally flickering instead of being constantly glowing, like usual. It reminds me of getting depression.

I actually think that keeping this scene would make a lot of Joy's worries make a lot more sense in the film. Great movie, but yeah her worries of not being needed could have been focused on a bit more in this way.
