Tammy Guitar Lesson 10 - Fingerstyle, songwriting, finger gym and silliness!

We were both in a super silly mood for this lesson but it was a fun one!

It's nearly all 100% free and card details are not needed to register. You have everything to gain, and nothing to lose! My theory course is the best on the web (and one of the very few paid parts of the site) and it's awesome - if your theory is lacking and you wanna fix it - that's the place to go! At my store, you'll find a huge range of super cool guitar themed t-shirts, all my (paper) books, merch and lots more 🙂 and we got proper fun backing tracks for you to jam along with too!

Justin - I love how Tammy has progressed in these videos - thats a testament to her hard work, and your style of teaching. She really is a model student - well done Tammy!

These are so great Justin and also bring back memories when I was new to guitar, theory, etc. It's also a fantastic reminder for me to not get sloppy with my technique. I try to spot correct myself but sometimes when I'm learning a new song, my brain is concentration on the new chords/transitions and I'm not disciplined with my technique. Thanks for this great series!

Wonderful Justin. I've been playing for 5 years, teaching myself through internet sources [justinguitar.com is outstanding]. But, when I watch these lessons, all I can think is..."I need to find a teacher." The internet is wonderful, but unfortunately, cannot supply any feedback. I believe, at this point, mistakes I'm making [and don't realize] are so ingrained that I'll never break them.

You're a great teacher and more power to Tammy! You'll be rockin the house down before you know it with a good teacher like Justin!

I enjoy this so much. Justin is very intelligent man that's why he is good at what he does. You are truly changing my guitar adventure and for that I am very much grateful.

I've learned more in 2 days watching these lessons than in months of beginner lessons. I think I was holding myself back. I love how I see the 5th string barred minor chords use the same shape as A minor. At least that's how I'm remembering it.

Songwriting gold right at the beginning "the more you think about it, the easier it is to not be literal". Well-put, Tammy! Wanted to copy it here so I wouldn't forget it. Also the bit about not having to rhyme every line as long as it flows and you do get around to rhyming eventually! LOL Learning a ton from these vids, thanks for doing them.

Thanks a lot, Justin and Tammy! Please, continue! This is so helpful. It really feels like participating in private lessons, full of epiphanies. While practicing after a lesson I‘m looking forward for the next one.

Loved this lesson. It practically is mirroring most of what I’m currently working on. So was perfect to follow along to. Thanks so much.

Justin taught me Johnny b good this is were I really understood what a flat chord was because I played it in a song also the chunka chunka pattern helped stretch out my index, ring and pinky finger. How to string mute and understand where the 1chord the 4 chord and the chord5 of a chord progression is played on the guitar. I wasn't so put of about leaning music theroy after that .thanks Justin great lessons as always

Tough lesson! When you can play any song with barre chords then you must be getting good.People forget where the notes are and slow down on moving the barre from place to place, getting it smooth like basic chord change overs is tough(that’s me!)Getting it all together is tough, well that’s what I find but obviously it’s practice, practice and more correct practice so it’s almost auto.Finger picking, phew, another toughie!Brilliant realistic lesson.

There's something relaxing about these sessions, it's very nice. The lessons I give are not so smooth 😂
As a non-native english speaker, I struggle a lot with Tammy's accent though, well... have to take it as another kind of lesson 😜

Almost skipped this because thought it would be 100% recording/writing songs. Real happy I did not skip it.
