All u need is a piece of potato with an eye and it will grow

“Count back 90 days” to know when to do your second planting. In Maine we only HAVE about 90 (110 days average) days between frosts. June 1st being the first “safe” day for delicate frost-vulnerable plants

Up here(Ohio River Valley (Cincinnati-ish)) we cant do that.

Potatoes have a dormancy period before they sprout again. In any given year there's ony 2 to 4 weeks between the spring-planted and the fall-planted.

You can stick 'em in the ground ... but they're not gonna pass their minimum dormancy period before frost.

Just save back enough of your Spring seed and you can plant those in the fall. Works whether you save your own or buy.

One way to truly double is to let them sprout the long sprouts. Break those off and just plant the sprouts. Allow the tuber to resprout before planting.
