In my hometown a man was arrested for sexual assault of a woman and released in bond. A day or two later he was found castrated and bleeding….. no one felt concerned.

You can’t convince me that prosecutor didn’t enjoy hearing that story. Someone needs to keep an eye on him.

5 years for murder?! 12 years for brutal SA?! The justice system was a joke for this man.

The prosecutor and Cho's wife can catch these hands too. Man that was infuriating. People who treat victims like that and women who stand by these kind of men are really the bottom of the barrel of humanity.

Every time someone reoffends after a light sentence the judge should be held accountable

If I was her father, I would get drunk, un-exist him and go to prison with a smile on my face knowing I protected my baby from having to see her abusers face ever again.

Honestly I'm still so upset he wasnt admitted to more than 20 years in prison, let alone even get out. What he did to her was so terrible..

Korea has one of the worst judicial system. It's disgusting.

I’m glad your husband mentioned how the law for drugs in Korea are much more extreme!!!! Its truly BACKWARDS that they’ll treat someone who smokes weed like a murderer but will give a slap on the wrist for people doing disgusting things like this :/

This story is just… I’m only 16 minutes in and I’m just speechless. I’m so disgusted. This man needs the death penalty

As a victim of SA I’m listening to this with tears in my eyes. What an evil world we live in. I wish all offenders would rot in prison for life. The amount of damage SA does to a young child…. I’m 28 now and I’ve never been able to completely trust another man again let alone be intimate with one. I was only a child, I was only 4.

My sister became a special victim's unit detective after witnessing the hell I went through with the detectives & prosecutors after I was raped. She wanted the victims she worked with to know that she would do everything in her power to fight for them and with them because she hated watching what I went through - I gave up. It was too degrading & messed with me mentally, emotionally & physically! My case never made it to trial, hell, I'd be shocked if charges were ever brought against my attacker! But my experience drove her to become a police officer with the goal of SVU detective. She was in SVU for years (in the United States) & had to take a step back from SVU because most of her cases never made it to court. She felt defeated every time she'd do the work, promise victims that she'd help them get justice, then have the prosecutor say there wasn't enough for charges or a prosecutable case. She got to the point of consistently feeling beaten down by the prosecutors & she could no longer emotionally handle having to face the victims with such awful news & seeing the confusion and betrayal in each victim's eyes! Most of her cases never made it to standing charges or court! So now she's the defense tactics instructor for her agency, plus she volunteers at the women's shelter teaching self-defense classes. She doesn't say it, but I'm certain she keeps in contact with those victims she couldn't help get justice and some kind of a sense of security. I know it still kills her. It seems like victims have to prove the validity of the crimes perpetrated against them... they have to prove they're being honest, that these awful, awful things happened to them, while perpetrators can claim they're the "true victim", being targeted by their accuser for whatever reason, without any sort of proof & somehow are believed more than their victims! Heaven forbid they be seen as the manipulative monsters they truly are!
I wish justice truly was blind and that those victimized had some semblance of power in fighting for what's truly right for them, & finding power in fighting to protect others from the same fate! I wish there was actual balance!
Honestly, I wish people like these monsters didn't exist, didn't hurt, didn't like hurting others, & didn't take what isn't theirs to take!

My wife Lindsay Gillamac is a huge fan of yours. She is applying as a researcher for your channel. She is a filipina and speaks Tagalog, Bisia, and English. She has research into Philippines cases ready to go. Please, please consider her. Thank you for all your hard work in bringing these cases to us.

Unfortunately sexual predators are given slaps on the wrist here too. My husband is facing 9.5 years in prison for DRUG charges and we have seen countless child predators get probation or very little time behind bars. It’s sickening. Drug offenders can be rehabilitated - most sex offenders cannot.

The fact he did it in a church disgusts me. A place of holiness being used as a place to desecrate a poor girl. That man is sick.

tf has anyone in this courtroom ever touched alcohol??
i had my first blackout with 14 so i feel qualified to say that alcohol does NOT lead you to assaulting a child going to school in winter on a church restroom wtf

As a woman, I would not be safe in South Korea, no matter what the government says, after everything in this case it's hard to believe they would protect anyone. The laws against perpetrators of crime against women and children are so laxed, in comparison with others. The main deterrence against crime is punishment, no matter what people say, and the law in South Korea have shown sex offenders that there is nothing to fear. It's hard enough even with longer sentences, and not saying that south Korea is in any way unique in its treatment of women, i am from London and for the past 3 years our police have been in the headlines for the way they treat women, but the laws in south Korea make no sense.

It seems like paedophiles protecting paedophiles, doesn't it!?! There's no other logical reason for any of this to be happening! My heart hurts for that poor family AND holds fear for the citizens!!🥺 😔
