I've always enjoyed this film. The visuals, for the time, were stunning and watching it on Blu-Ray was great. The story did suffer as it's a bit convoluted and hard to make sense, but the race scenes are excellent. Especially the final race ending.

Speed Racer was based on a really old Anime from The '60s and out of nowhere in 2008, they made an American, Live Action Movie and I thought it was cool.

I was never a fan of anime Speed Racer. That said this movie is very special. I love it. It's campy and goofy and the acting is 100% taken seriously in this wacky universe where the world revolves around car racing.

Truly is a terribly underrated movie. I think it's the unorthodox live action color scheme that really made it difficult for the average movie enthusiast audience to process.
Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love color schemes, but I also like scifi and anime. At least half of all movie goers don't actually watch anime in the U.S. But aside from that, the scifi racing and the story is absolutely incredible.

I've watched it years ago and it was entertaining, but even my younger self didn't found it a great movie. Even by today's standards, with Marvel movies going for the better part of 3 hours and condensing years worth of comics/ cartoon episodes onto an odd pacing, I've always found it too long and at the same time, too confusing to follow - you have 20 mins where almost nothing happens, and then a whole jump in the plot. The CGI wasn't great, either, perhaps giving it another go would prove interesting from a surrealism standpoint, though back that it just looked fake and a cost-cutting measure above all. The childish nature of the plot mixed in with the more adult approach sometimes taken along the way also made it confusing for whom was it targeted to. Your points do make me curious enough to take another go at it, though!

At the time I went to see this film in the cinema, I got a headache by the colors and lights, I wonder how many seizures this film caused.
