Speed Racer - Racer X and Speed at Thunderhead

This is possibly my favorite scene in the movie. Racer X's advice is the best. I personally think he should've been Batman rather than Ben Affleck.

The fact that this guy is/was not Batman AT LEAST ONCE is the biggest casting mistake any casting department has ever made.

That scream at the beginning you can feel the pain and anger in him for wasting his time risking his life almost dying in a dangerous race that "killed" his brother trying to achieve something to save his family from doom

“It doesn’t matter if racing ever changes. What matters is if we let racing change us. Every one of us has to find a reason to do this. You don’t climb into a T180 to be a driver. You do it because you’re driven.”

Every time Racer X gives that speech, my heart sheds a tear. The emotion is his voice is so palpable. Plus, the line really fits well with the theme of fighting for what one believes in, which is a key component of the film.

Always loved this twist in the movie but at the same time, I wish Rex would just tell his family the truth. They all miss him and his absence has damaged their family. Even if he has a job to do, he should still let his family know he's ok.

Something that's super impressive is both speed and rex still have perfect control on the Thunderhead Track, despite both their cars not being meant for it. Thunderhead is a T180 track, meaning cars with rocket boosters on the rear and rear wheels that turn. Their cars here dont have either. The entire track is made of slippery forged steel, so they barely have grip on it either. It shows just how truly exceptional they are at not just driving, but truly controling their cars that they can drive in this completely incompatible track.

At 2:30, you can see Racer X's facial reaction to Speed's disdain for making the same mistakes that Rex did which must have felt like such a blow to him. His own brother feeling like his death was wasted. This movie sorely needed a sequel to resolve this. The family was so tore up over his death that there should have been closure.

This scene, these characters… everything is just perfect. It’s like "Tell me you’re Rex Racer without telling me you’re Rex Racer"

Everyone's moved at Racer X's lines, but I'm here in awe that a simple street car is capable of traversing tracks meant for more powerful cars.

I'll substitute racing with everything that is going in this world, Politics, Sports, Academics, Video Games, etc. " It doesn't matter if these things never change, what matters, is if we let these things change us" I just can't believe how true that quote is, it really made me emotional.
