Heavy rain causes drainage wall to collapse

Residents of Taman Sri Saujana in Kota Tinggi were shocked today when heavy rain caused a drainage wall to collapse.

Rohana Sulaiman, 44, heard what sounded like an explosion before the wall gave way, triggering soil erosion that left her family's home at risk.

Fortunately, all family members were safe. Rohana said while there had been minor erosion previously, authorities had covered it with canvas.

With the ongoing rainy season, she is worried about further collapses endangering lives and property.

The heavy rain, which started at 1.30pm, also caused flooding at the park's recreational lake and along the main road.
