you hit it right on the money. ive been a in the hvac business for 30 years. ive crawled through water and mud installing duct work. seems like most builderders dont have a clue, or care about waterin the crawlspace. they' dont understand the crawl space has to bd the same elevation as otside. they cant figure out why they keep getting ye when there floors buckle uo the next spring when it rain. now them dummies build there houses on slaps, because they dnt know how to build a propr]er crawlspace.

Here in Florida, after a heavy rain, I usually get about 12" - 24" of water intrusion. it is getting under the footing and the sump pump will remove it. The A/C duct work gets wet and the soil is muddy and smelly for multiple weeks after. I would love to install an encapsulation in order to install a dehumidifier and eliminate the mold and mildew but seems impossible as the water would continue to rise below the liner. Would pumping concrete prior to installing the liner solve this? Looking for a long term solution so I do not have to keep replacing the A/C duct work every time we get a heavy rain, usually once a year after a hurricane.

We had nearly 10 inches of rain in July in 2 separate down pours a few weeks apart and had water in my crawl space in a back section near entry as I have a tarp over that area and some water was sitting on top the tarp in a few areas. First time this has happened but home only sits on a 2 concrete block foundation which it should have been set on a 4 block foundation as crews back in 1946 had NO clue what they were doing in building this home. I prob need to dig down and put a sealant coating on blocks and backfill with concrete. As crawl space is very cramped no way to dig down from inside wall a company refused to put plastic in due to sufficient room as a average size guy could crawl in and do it but that company's workers most likely scared of spiders and bugs as I crawled in and put plastic down where I needed it.

Wouldn't a french drain on the outside of the foundation wall do something similar? If so, why not capture it before it actually gets into the crawlspace? Thanks!

I have a slab foundation no gutters and the house has been leveled by previous owners. they cut the porch and drive way concrete. I just recently pulled out 10 buckets of water. It's rain water.
It's all going to be diy for now. I need gutters to move water away .
But what I do about the 50+ gallons of water under my house after I put a pump to drain it out as much as I can. Is their like a mixture of dirt you recommend to try and fill it in. Or let nature dill it in. I will put dirt and sand what they recommend but any recommendations on your end to fill in the gap.
where they repaired the foundation cause the concrete repaird failed. That's how Im getting the water out

Why don't you just put the French drain on the outside?

On a Pier and Beam house built on expansive clay soil (N. Texas) is it acceptable that the dirt in the crawlspace be damp after heavy rain. I've got gutters and also brought in dirt around the foundation slopping away from house. Still if will be damp. Not pooling or standing but moist dirt close to the beam perimeter

Seems like the silliest solution to fake a fix

French drains that utilizes perforated pipe will not allow thorough removal of the water
