Installing Interior Window Trim | Beginner

Installing new interior window trim can be a daunting task for the beginner/intermediate carpenter, but this step-by-step video will definitely show you all the details of "how-to". Basic painted flat trim with no mitered corners is a great place to learn because of the simplicity of the joinery and the ease of working with this material, plus once it's done, it looks really nice (IMO)!

I'm staring at my unfinished windows wondering how hard can it be to trim these things out and then I watch this video and realized it's really not going to be that easy but at least I have this video even if it takes me 20 hours of pausing and unpausing. Thank you.

One of the best things I did about 7 years ago was to slowly start buying tools and watch youtube. I went from hiring people to do everything, which is far from cheap, to doing absolutely everything myself...and to be honest...my work looks a whole lot better than their work. And not because I am better at it....but because it is my house...and I take my time more than they did and I care more about the outcome. It's damn hard to find anyone to do even decent work...let alone really good work. Start fixing small things around the house. I went from not knowing how to do anything to making my own cabinets, doors, installing my own floors, doing all my own trim work. And you can too. You save a lot of money too. I'm actually amazed at how simple some of this stuff is to do. Everything seems hard when you have never done it before...once you do it...and have the knowledge...its all easy.

This is the best video I have seen on how to do this. I have watched about 20 videos so far and you explained everything perfectly. Thank you

I’ve trimmed 2 windows now and this video is by far the best instructional support I have seen.

I still get some wonky results but it’s usually because of a bowed window frame. I’ve had to do some heavy caulking / patching but things usually look okay in the end.

After waiting 35 yrs for this job I need to do it myself. Your demonstration is clear and well explained. Now I just need to learn to use the tools.

Great vid. Unlike some others I love the speed. Everything is condensed and it doesn't take half my day to watch it, and I can go back and re-watch the sections I need.

Great tutorial. Only thing I would say is that as a newer carpenter measuring to the long point is easier for myself than the short point. Only because I can get a more accurate measurement from hooking the tape measure instead of trying to guess the short measurement.

Awesome video bud. Just used it to install window casings for the first time and this was incredibly helpful. Even able to get a nice routed piece up top as you have for a little character.

Thanks for the great video. This plus the previous video was exactly what I needed for my project. I like how you edited this so that it wasn’t unnecessarily long.

Awesome video!!! I'm finishing the basement in my cabin and have 10" thick Superior Walls and my windows came with 6" jambs. Originally thought I'd add jamb extensions with biscuit joints, but was easier (and probably a cleaner look) to remove the factory jambs and install new ones. This video taught me everything I needed to do this and in one weekend I got 2 double and 1 single windows trimmed out and they look great! They actually look better than how the builder finished out the main floor. Thanks for posting the video. I'm now subscribed to your channel!
