A panel is exploring what can be done to reduce lead and other pollutant exposure in low and middle income countries featuring Drew McCartor (Pure Earth), Lucia Coulter (Lead Exposure Elimination Project) & Rachel Silverman-Bonnifeld (Center for Global Development).

Drew is a lawyer and internationally recognized leader in pollution management and environmental health with 14 years of experience designing and leading strategies to prevent, assess, and reduce public health impacts from toxic chemicals. Drew is serving as Executive Director of Pure Earth, which is presently focused on reducing exposure to lead and mercury in low- and middle-income countries.

Lucia is the Co-Founder and Co-Executive Director of LEEP, an international nonprofit working to reduce childhood lead poisoning in low- and middle-income countries. Lucia is a medical doctor by background and previously worked in the UK’s National Health Service. She is a graduate of Charity Entrepreneurship’s incubation program, a Schmidt Futures Innovation Fellow, and was previously Co-President of Giving What We Can: Cambridge.

Rachel Silverman-Bonnifeld is a Senior Fellow at the Center for Global Development, where she leads policy-oriented research and convenings on global health financing and policy. Her current research focuses on procurement and access models for global health products; incentives for global health innovation and delivery; neglected global health crises such as the spread of antimicrobial resistance and widespread lead poisoning of children; and financing for pandemic preparedness and response.
