Thank you BBC learning English team. This video is very useful. I just learned to say "hello" & "How do you do?" as greeting in Hong Kong, but when I arrived the UK, I found everyone greeting with me in a different form. Actually I am now sure what they say, I just assume that they greet with me, and I can only response with my smile and nodding.

Yay! I’ve found an online reference to my question to you about the British way of saying “‘Ello, ‘Ello, ‘Ello”, in my previous post. Unfortunately, it only gives the definition (British slang), and not the source. But I do remember hearing it originated from an old British comedian and seeing an old black and white photo/video of him. If anyone has the name of this comedian from a bygone era, I’d be interested. Thank you.
