Those are definitely great bug out bags. Your food and water solutions seem fairly reliable. Although I would highly recommend teaching your kid(s) how to properly and safely used tools such as knives, saws, axes etc. Even if they're young. I've seen guys teach 4 year olds how to shoot firearms. I would also recommend prepping your vehicle with certain things to limit the amount of stuff you're carrying out in a bug out situation.

Great bug out bags! I know you mentioned OTC meds, but don't forget prescription meds also. Did you find the whistle/compass in the outdoor department? I'm planning a Walmart run next week and it is on my list! I have some extra clothing that I put in Food Saver bags. Waterproof and compact! You may also want to FS some extra cash/coins (small denominations) just in case.
