that spinner is our backup method to ensure that oxygen and fresh gas is flowing to the patient. if the spinner is not spinning, that means there's no gas flowing by it, not a situation you want when your patient is under anesthesia!

every fresh gas, meaning nitrous oxide, oxygen, and air, has its own spinner, and they have their own knob. remember, the knobs are different contours so that they can be distinguished by touch, like in the case of a power outage or if you're not looking.

surgery and anesthesia definitely require all your senses working together for safety and comfort!
